Whew- I am finally done with all my courses. It's been a hectic road with ill family members, 2 kids, and getting re-married in the interuum, but I am finally finished with the Excelsior ASN program. I took my last CLEPs today and passed, which was a feat in itself.
My 13 yr old got hit by a car yesterday, and believe it or not, she has NO INJURIES. She flew 20 feet in the air, broke the van's radiator and windshield, but she's OK. The kid doesn't have a scratch on her! An EMT, a peds ER nurse, and a cop all happened to be right at the scene of the accident when it happened!!! All of her xrays, CTs, labs, etc. were clear- she's hurting today, though- and still shaken up a bit.
Well, hubbie stayed home with her today, and one of my nurse friends did checks on her while I took these CLEPs (which I barely got to study for, and guessed on half of the questions- I don't recommend this). I can't believe I am done, and I REALLY can't believe my daughter is OK. I knew the MDs and some of the agency RNS in the peds hospital, so they took very good care of us.
Today is a good day. :)
Praise God your daughter is ok. Wow what a scare, I bet ya'll are still shaking. Are you going through EC? Do you have to do the CPNE ? If so PM me and I'll send you some helpful info. I finished and passed boards 3 years ago. It's a "wonderful" feeling to be done. NCLEX is nothing compared to what you've already accompolished. Boards were a breeze (and I had all 265 questions), congratulations ! on being done and definately on your daughter not being hurt. Sounds like ya'll are in need of a trip to Disney!
Thank you. It really hit home when they coded the next kid in the trauma bay after my dtr was placed in a room. Thank God she had fallen asleep at that time. I work in trauma, so I know what a code sounds like...and the sounds of that poor Mom were awful. I panicked at that time- for her & her child, and for us, because it soooo could've been us in their shoes. Same situation, different outcome. Believe me, we know how lucky we are. I keep hearing that Mom's cries, but I haven't even tried to picture what happened when my dtr got hit. I don't know if I can even go there right now.
As for the CPNE, I passed that in May. I had ill parents, so it took me a while to get finished with my last gen eds. This year has been quite a ride. I can't wait for it to be over, quite frankly.
now i bet you really crank up your punk rock in the minivan and dance around while you drive...you must be so relieved and happy!! hope all in the fam are doing well...i remember you going thru all that and that you were pushing back your grad date-but you're all finished now!!! major congrats!! are you going to continue working where you are now or change??
