Hi! I am a student in Florida waiting to hear about my acceptance to a nursing program. I Volunteer at a large teaching hospital in the NICU as a cuddler. My job description is to rock, cuddle and feed the babies that are temperature stable. I LOVE IT! I was wondering does anyone else know of hospitals that do this. I must say I feel pretty lucky that my hospital does this. Also it will look pretty good at my nursing interview...just an idea!

I 'cuddle' @ the hospital I retired from, which is a 40 bed level 3 NICU. I also work ("casual") @ a smaller level 2 nursery. The smaller unit has an occassional premie, but most babies are term kids getting antibiotics or phototherapy.
By cuddling, I get my "premie fix". Plus, I get to gossip with my old friends.

Wow... what I'd give to have a job like that !!!
I'd think I died and went to heaven.
A baby cuddler.... is there anything better ? And get paid for it to boot?

Just an FYI, cuddlers are volunteer positions. But if you're going to volunteer - there's no better way to do it. :)

I WISH our manager allowed volunteers...nope! Just us nurses with not enough time to cuddle those who need it.

I am in Florida and looking for a volunteer position in the NICU. Which hospital do you volunteer at? The closest hospital to me is Shands at UF.
