My professor was going over different methods of abortion. As she got more graphic, I just started to cry. I had to leave. I'm a dork.

I would actually report that to the Dean. The professor is obviously on some kind of agenda, and that is fine, but the classroom isn't the place for it.There was just simply no reason for that kind of description.

Abortions are medical procedures. If they are in the coursework texts, what is the professor doing wrong by lecturing on the different processes? I think most adults have knowledge of how they are performed. It's like telling a prof not to lecture on the reproductive system because some people are prudes. It's just something to learn about and move on. You don't have to agree with something to gain knowledge about it.

That is kinda bad advice, because the professor was lecturing on a specific topic and was perfectly within his/her rights to do so. Reporting it will only make the student look bad in the eyes of the school and professor and the professor will NOT get in trouble for this, period. TALKING about how an abortion is performed is NOT condoning it.

I agree with jbeau. As a nurse you should know about the process of abortion. It doesn't matter whether you agree with the matter or not. It is a medical procedure and it should be taught in school. And there is no possible way of giving a pink, flowery description of abortion. It is what it is. As a nurse you will see a lot of horrifying things and even though it is your job to care, you need to tough enough to deal with all this.
Also, in reply to what jbeau said before, I agree that every future parent should be screened before they can have a baby. There are so many people with psychological disorders or genetic diseases, that have one baby after another - and can not deal with the consequences. At the hospital I work at, we have two sisters with sickle cell anemia, and I wonder every time I see them, why would you have another baby after giving birth to a child that has sickle cell? You know it's a genetic disorder and there's is going to be at least a 25% chance that your next child has it, too. *sigh*
Just think of those people who can not have babies of their own and the adoption process they have to go through. While any other idiot or maniac down the street can have 20 babies and not take care of a single one of them.
