I cannot believe a nurse did this......

Nurses General Nursing

Published

My grandmother in law is a resident at a local nursing home. My husband took my kids to see her today (I was at home with the baby). The nurse there took the cotton packing out of the top of a bottle of medicine she was opening and tickled my 4 year olds face with it. My husband pulled him away and told me about it when he got home. I'm furious about this. No telling what kind of powder or residue was on the packing..it could have been a chemp drug or who knows what. My husband didn't think to ask, just wanted out of there. Am I crazy for thinking this is absolutely unacceptable? I'm actually thinking of reporting her to the nursing board (she's done a lot of other crazy stuff we've noticed while granny is there). We've talked to admin before about stuff this nurse has said and done, but this is over the top.

I can see if she gave him a pill or something as if it were candy. It really isn't that serious. It makes me wonder what other "little" things you reported.

Wow, you wanting to potentially ruin the life of a nurse for that would be as rediculous as CPS investigating your husband for taking a toddler into an establishment where it is common for people to have communicable diseases that can be spread by touch/ close contact, i.e. pneumonia, shingles, MRSA, meningitis, ect.

Wow! I think that nurse will be posting on the " I'm struggling with pts families" thread.

The husband should have called 911 and had her arrested and the boy assessed by EMS. You can have her charged with assault, and if she smiled charged with lewd behavior

seriously???????????????? get a life.

Hilarious. I'm so glad I don't work with the OP.

So you call the BON.

"hello, I would like to report a nurse, she assualted my son with a cotton ball!"

"assualted? how so?"

"well... it was more or less a tickle."

Then there would be a long period of silence follwed by uncontrollable laughter.

Talk about uptight. Board of nursing for having the audacity to making a kids day a little better? A previous poster was absolutely right: you took a small child (and I, having a 4 and 7 year old know how their nasty they can be... Little typhoid Marys) into an environment where nosocomial infections are certainly present and you're complaining about a cotton ball? I think it's time that you got your priorities straight.

Woe, be it to the mother of the 4 year old.
