Hurst Review and Saunders

Published

I decided to take NCLEX for the second time on April 12th... I am BN in Canada, and took the exam in the last summer. It was quite different from RN exam in Canada....and failed.

Now, I am taking Hurst Review for review, and practicing questions by Saunders. I hope this works....

People who are wondering whether the online course works or not....I strongly suggest Hurst review course..it is incredible. It's just so practical and fun. Especially people who don't have enough time for yourself (i.e. mom, full time worker...etc), I recommend this online course. You can probably finish this within a week if you can make study time for a full day.

Good luck to all of you who are studying right now! I hope I can escape from this cold country in the next winter! :p

Thanks for the input!! That really helps! I had pretty much already decided to take the online review but hearing from you makes me feel better! I plan on completing this during my spring break.

Good luck in April!

I have a comprehensive exam 4/19..........

Tiffany

Best luck to you, Tiffany:

I just finished all med/surg section on the review course. Then, I am re-reading my notes from Marlene again and again... It's easily coming in my brain. Believe me, Marlene will explain all the content with layman's words and practical examples. As a RN, this critical thinking way is the best way to study all the content. You won't have time to check the textbook when your patient is not breathing!!! right?

Good luck to all of you! :Melody:

Hi there,

I'm preparing USA's RN too cause' Canada's RN is hard to get for me as a forign nurse, would u tell me what's the course website address? Thnaks and good luck!

I hope you all like this course as well. The only thing I have to say is Marlene's strong southern accent! I cannot understand the words sometimes, so I listen again. I am glad there are lots of people who are studying for NCLEX in the same way!

By the way, how did you find Canadian's RN exam is difficult? I think Canada's exam is focused more on public health and communication questions. On the other hand, American's exam is more clinical questions. It's totally different style.

I am studying this weekend, but I have to work 3 days straight on 12 hours days in the next week....it's hard to get to study...I am tired....This website surely cheers me up! Thanks, everybody.

HURST REVIEW is the BEST review out there. I'm currently doing the online course with Marlene and I think she is incredible. She is so easy to understand and makes learning fun. Everyone should do this review. I did Kaplan before I took the NCLEX my first time and I thought it sucked! They guarantee you pass or u get your money back... well, i got my $400 back. Thank God!

Anyway, just wanted to praise everyone for picking Hurst Review!

Brandi: Did you already do psych and maternity parts of the course? I could not stop laughing and watched the video with so much fun. Then, I practiced some questions in those areas by Saunders questions. Many words by Marlene came up in my head and answered correctly. Yes, I think she is the best. I am studying also through Saunders review adding to her lecture so that I can also study for meds and some more details. How about you? How are you studying? I cannot wait the peds part now :rotfl:

I started Hurst online yesterday and it is the best! I have learned so much. She makes everything understandable! She is funny! I just started the med/surg part and probably won't get to OB and Peds until this weekend. I'm doing the fast track since this is spring break for me.

Another good thing is you can print out her outlines and take notes/fill in blanks as you go along. I can not say enough good things about this review.

How expensive is the Hurst Review?? Do you get any materials like books ect. to go along with it? I have never done anything online & am unsure how it all works. I am thinking about doing this to help me with OB & fluids/electrolytes. I just do not like OB & I know I am going to need all the extra's I can get. Do ya'll think it would be helpful in these areas? Thanks,CRB :p

I am sorry I don't have a receipt with me right now, but it was about 250US$. You can access to the online course for three months and all you need is the internet access basically. I also never bought anything on internet so I was hesitating putting my credit card#, but it has no problem. I live in Canada so I have no choice but online. Do you live in Kentucky? You may want to check "live review" in your area too. I don't know what it is like but if you don't have good access to computer, you may prefer live lecture. You don't get any materials like books, but you can print out outlines Marlene made. Then, you fill out blanks while listening to her lecture and add notes. You can ask questions as well. Also, her lecture about fluids/lytes is really excellent! Believe me, I am a registered nurse in Canada and her lecture really helps me all the time when I work. She teaches you in critical thinking way. So, you don't just memorize stuff. You just learn foundamental stuff and apply the knowledge to each situations. Adding to that, she is so fun! OB area? I could not laugh while I was watching her lecture. Then, you know what? Today, I was assigned to a patient diagnosed with pneumonia and she is also 22 weeks pregnant. I had to do fetal assessment although I am in medicine for 2 years. I clearly remember what the fetal hear rate range is and where I could hear the heart rate. Her lecture is just so practical and believe me. you don't regret! Well, I haven't passed NCLEX so that I shouldn't say too much yet! :p :p

Anyways, I just wanted to tell you that I am very happy to spend the money for this course! I am more confident as a RN than ever! Good luck to you!
