HURST review, exam cram, incredibly easy, lippincott & nclex 3000 for LVN

Published

ok, so I just started doing questions from lippincotts book & incredibly made easy for lpn book. I'm going to start on nlex 3000 cd soon as well!! Basically, I do 1 chapter a day which usually has atleast 100 questions. Now my questions is, is the hurst review really worth $300 sum bucks or should I just stick to the 3 sources of lippincott, incredibly made easy n nclex 3000 n just practice questions? Please give me some insight as i am going for my 3rd try with nclex~pn. :( any other tips on how to study n ur opinion on hurst online review?

edit: i do 2 chapters at nite before going to bed from exam cram rn/lpn prep book too.

I would not get too many resources and instead of reading chapters I would concentrate on answering questions and reading the rationales.

I'm only doing questions

so how many different cds should i be studying from? I'm not going to read any chapters this time around unless i need to look up a topic, i was going to read up on that particular spot only.

hi, i just took the nclex pn last wk, i did not do the hurst review, i did a bunch of questions from the nclex 3000, i READ the hurst book(just didnt take the class) and i passed boards w/ 150 questions!!!:yeah:i hear that it is a good review, the book was a great help i think, just study the best way u feel, i did a lot of questions. i also sat out of school for 6 months before i went back to take 1 class that i needed to finish nursing school and thought for sure that i was gonna fail!! so good luck

Focus on one resource and understand your topic. wish you all the best!

hey thanks guys for the advice. appreciate it.

U really should have to focus only 1 or 2 books.....

Each person learning ability is diffrent.

I will tell u that these 3 books helped me,,,,,some other will tell u these 4 books helped me.....

so what u goona do? R u gonna buy all books?

Some of my classmates, who always got lower grade than me,,,and they retake all exam in school year, they passed there exam on first attemp. I asked them how did u prepare? they told me that they just study only NCLEX 3000 and they passed..

If u open any book..u wil see new information,,and u gonna think that i dont know anything.......So focus 1 or 2 books.

to pass exam u should answer 3 to 4 thousands questions.....then u will develop ability to craack the answer....

hey prado, thanks for the advice. I actually did couple of chapters from each book to see which one was best for me to comprehend the info therefore I choose only exam cram (best for rationals + simple strategies) and nclex 3000!! I agree with your post but I wouldn't have bought all of those books i posted above and I never will either since I became a bum after nursing school lol. btw- one of my friends who only used nclex 3000 to practice questions passed as well so i agree with u regarding using just 1 good/reliable source!! Before, I used saunders only and flunked the exam twice not cuz i didnt understand saunders but cuz saunders had 2 much info that bombarded my lil brain & questions on the cd were fairly easy n not challenging enough compaired to the real nclex (beast). =) thanks

Suggest you use one resource to avoid confusion. If not successful with one resource, then you might go to a different resource for your next attempt. Going all over the place with half a dozen resources is probably only going to give you a fragmented preparation experience. Good luck.
