Hunter College Psych NP (PMHNP) 2024

Nursing Students NP Students

I applied to Hunter College's (in NYC) PMHNP program on 12/2023. This is to start fall 2024. I am wondering if there are others who have applied. My application status so far says "submitted". I am waiting for either rejection or appointment to be set up for an interview. Just to give a little info on information used to apply.

My experience:

1.5 years of MED SURG experience

1.5 years of psych inpatient experience (in hospital)

About 5-6 years of total nursing experience

BSN 3.5 GPA CUNY School

ADN 3.2 GPA CUNY school

2 Letters of recommendation. One from my Nurse manager in my psych inpatient unit. The other from the attending (MD) on that same inpatient unit.  Not sure if this is a strong enough application but I wanted to share for transparency. I will be updating this forum if I get any news of rejection or acceptance.

I took a stats class while getting my ADN and a research class in my BSN (capstone).

Any updates anyone on NURS 700?

Nothing yet, I sent the email and they reply saying that I am not the only one with this problem and they forwarded to someone else who might be able to help me. I just F/U again with this person, considering the admission enrollment for fall opens tomorrow...

Ill keep you posted :)!

Hi again, they just replied to me and said: "NURS 700 has been reopened allowing you to register for the course while its title is being corrected. Nursing faculty are working with the registrar to change the title back to the original one."

Is healthcare systems open for anyone? It still seems to be closed on blackboard.

Hi!

I finished my registration for Fall '24, and although the "NURS 700" still has the wrong name, I had no problem registering for the class.

🙂

Hey if anyone could help?
1- did they say when the orientation for this program will be ? I know I received an email back in march from Alicia brown and she said August 2024 but it also said date to be announced .

2- Don't judge LOL. I have never been to any Hunter schools, but what is the address to the school of nursing ? Specifically classroom 232w for Nurs 749

Hi!

They just sent the email for the orientation date, it will be online: Monday, August 26th from 5:00-7:00pm. They will send the link by August 19th .

Does anyone know who would be the right person to get in contact with? I'm having a bit of a dilemma with which classes to register for. It doesn't help much that the bill is due in July and orientation is in August. I know which ones they recommend, but I wanted to know if one or two can be pushed out especially if I intend on taking Summer classes. I'm not sure if I need to reach out to Alicia or Dr. Baumann? The fall has a range of 6 classes to maybe 4 if doing part-time. If anyone has any suggestions please. I would love to know what others recommend.

Hey guys- does anyone know how strict they are about 2 years of experience? Like if there was a period of fmla would they count that against it? Just curious for those who had less than 2 years at time of application how they followed up before start of classes
