HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

I did both. But I’d your program starts in the Fall then just submit for the Fall.

I just got my finalist email about an hour ago. I’m in shock. I was sure I wouldn’t get one.

Oh congratulations ???

Hi everyone, just found this thread. Congrats to everyone who is a finalist and best of luck to everyone who hasn't heard back yet.

So what are the next steps after you complete the paperwork? I read that some people got emails about officially receiving the award

Hey guys! I've been pouring over info about the HRSA loan repayment program but I'm super confused reading some of these comments.

I see some people here who are applying for HRSA before they even start their nursing programs. I thought we could only apply after graduating and getting a job at a HPSA facility (or in some cases people apply to HRSA first, and maybe get recommendations for HPSA facilities in their area)? I'm super confused if I should be applying before my nursing program starts next Spring or if I should apply after. Am I confusing the loan repayment program (which is what I've been looking at) with something else, like a scholarship program?

Sorry for the dumb question, haha. Thanks!

You can definitely apply before starting! My program starts late September and I applied for this in May. The loan repayment program is for after you’ve graduated.

Thanks so much! I wasn’t aware of the HRSA scholarship, just the loan repayment program. Could I trouble you for a link? Lots of stuff pops up when I search “HRSA scholarship”…. ???

You wait 3-4 weeks until a secretary from DPHHS signs your contract and you get an email telling you that you're a participant! They will also reach out to you if they need more information regarding the finalist paperwork.

You're good! It's confusing haha but I think this thread is mainly geared towards the scholarship program, not loan repayment. For the loan repayment, you should probably apply after school ends. Obviously, you would get the loan repayment after you're done with school. For the scholarship program, you apply BEFORE school begins so they can pay for your education. I hope this helps! I'm sorry there aren't many loan repayment comments in this thread since that has lower stakes than the full-ride scholarship LOL

Congrats, to all of you who have received finalist emails. Way to Go! May all of you have a successful nursing journey! I didn't hear anything yet but still have hope. I always had a passion for helping others especially the undeserved, there's many of communities that need you and appreciate you. I know you all will provide excellent patient care.? ..?? ..? ..? ..? ..? ..? ..? ..? .. ..? ..? ..

Watching everyone that got credit checks on august 6th getting finalist emails…and here it is almost September and nothing for me. I am starting to give up ?
