HRSA 2021-2022

Updated:   Published

I haven't seen anyone start a thread about applying for this year's HRSA scholarships. I am waiting to see if I am accepted into a school in IL (fingers crossed!) and then I am going to start my application process for HRSA. The program I am applying to is a 16 months ABSN that starts in august! what about you all?

Have you been accepted some where yet? Still in the application process? Already started the Scholarship application?

I haven't gotten my credit ran either, but I just unfreezed it and the rep said if they would have attempted to run an applicant's credit and failed, they email you 3 times basically begging you to unfreeze it. Be positive. They stated the money usually covers all of Tier 1. If you are in Tier 1 and meet the EFC requirement I wouldn't worry. No clue why it's taking so long though. On Youtube this girl said they didn't notify her until September and didn't pay until October. School started for me on the 16th. I had to pay for my books and uniforms out of pocket with savings because I quit my job to be dedicated. Also because I already have a bachelor's I'm out of financial aid. I'm pretty confident we'll get it. If not, that's just crazy. They're giving away all of this money for everything else when nurses are super essential right now. They also extended the deadline, which tells me they were practically begging for more applicants. Why else would they extend it? Also if you're missing required documents the rep said your status would not even get to under review. Your app would have gotten tossed, so under review is the first small leap. Yay. I tend to see the cup as half full all the time, so hopefully this brings you a little hope, and when you get it, just know I told you so ?

I hope you get it just from the fact that you have a savings and quit your job to be able to focus more on becoming a nurse. I respect moves like that. It was a tactical power move. I like to interpret data and be neutral but real. I planned on calling in tomorrow and asking about the credit freeze part. You gave me some good info that I have a fighting chance but, it seems strange that, being it’s the end of August, practically, and I didn’t get a credit check, and by theory, Everyone else got their checks around the same time and the difference in time between their credit checks and now and me now and the deadline, things aren’t in my favor. That’s how I see it. My program costs 60k, I bought a duplex before this, to allow me to rent the other side out and be rent free while in school, but figured it’s a win win because, I’ll keep this for an investment property is I don’t get the scholarship, but I’m saying, 60k, if I had to pay for school, I would just use on more real estate, if I had that much money. I just fell in love with nursing during all this madness. Thanks for chatting. HMU on Instagram @GoalsOverExcuses , if you get any changes. And that goes for any other person who hasn’t had their credit pulled and is under review. Because that’s the team I’m on LOL

Hi! Please don't give up hope! I'm an MSN-RN generalist applicant with an efc 0. I haven't received a credit inquiry or heard back. I will likely be taking out some private loans if I don't receive this scholarship. I am hopeful even if this doesn't work out– I know there are programs like the HRSA loan repayment that pays back up to 85% of your loans– public or private within 2-3 years of graduating ?

Is anyone’s tuition here over $100,000 for their program?

Mine is close at 80k and that’s without medical insurance needs and supplies. Does anyone think that the cost of a program is a deciding factor when they choose who receives a scholarship? That was one of my worries when applying. And since I still haven’t heard anything I’m starting to believe it could be a possibility. :(

Mine is about 350k.
