The point isn’t about whether or not, you had success finding information about the nurse corps online, but rather is it possible. People have to learn how to use the internet for specific searches. And In all honesty, I bet most people complaining or begging for the HRSA opportunity, applied to this and this only. It won’t cut it. Miracles do happen. But, so do strategic, planned out, gut wrenching hard work, all out effort plans too . and also, you’re setting an example by explaining how you emailed a college Dean… I was actually in debt at a school one time, and couldn’t transfer my credits to another school until the balance was paid and I went to the school presidents campus house and he invited me in for dinner with his family. Honestly! He found a way to get them to give me 2 official transcripts and I promised to pay it off and I worked 70 hours a week, the next Summer snd paid it off. You explained resilience and not giving up and having a back up plan, and other things too. No one is going to get microwave results. It’s a long broiler baby!! I love hearing people grinding and finding for extra , something something to get what they need. And sometimes, you have to do that for rounds! I agree with the competition, just like with jobs or anything else. I was not a supervisor but a lead inspector, and I work meet the people folks would hire before an official job offer was made and, I would always just talk on the phone because appearance didn’t matter to me. And I would hear about a single mom, with 3 kids, going back to school for what she loved and that right there, I’m telling you. Is hard *** work. She could’ve just lived off the system, made excuses but at the end of the day, no one really gives a crap. I would tel the original poster, keeping networking , most people wouldn’t know about clubhouse, and you’re on here, start looking for others scholarships.. you can even email nurses that work for local health department, the CDC, FDA, & ask, how they paid for college… THERE ARE WAYS. Good for you about exploring clubhouse! You have an unlimited amount of information available to you on the internet? Sometimes, in life, you might be put in a situation where you have to figure someone out on your own. No one owes you anything in life. But, you owe yourself, the time and energy needed to be or become what you want to be. Because look at it like this, I know 40-50 year olds that say, man, if only I had this or that and I would have did this or that. They felt like the deserved something special. There is a gap between races and socioeconomic status… it’s clear. The statistics can’t even be manipulated to hide that. But, people have to put the effort in and find creative ways to get this done. I think hard work and prayer, every day, will get the job done. I went to a poor and run down high school, In the inner city. I graduated college and every single one of my friends, did not. And they have every excuse, why. We did hit a lot of the same road blocks but, I kept fighting. Networking. Asking questions. Using Google. I found money for my last semester by going down to job and family services and asking to speak to a manager and telling my story. They knew of a program. Who would of thought to do that. I could have no graduated and blamed it on the lack of advertising. Because the scholarship I did get. I never even heard of it. VA, nurse corps, you know where you can find info about those programs? The internet. Not trying to sound mean or anything. But, use the internet, like everyone else will do or give up. No one will feel sorry for you, and like the millions of other folks that lack financially resources, you will blend in. use Google like your life depended on it. “top nursing scholarships” , “nursing scholarship programs” .. even loans (which you can apply for tribal jobs and they help you pay back) and the scholarships that requiring an essay, those are real. Just don’t feel sorry for yourself. (I) believe, My God, wants me to work hard, and I wasn’t create from a weak imagine, and my purpose is to make my God proud and I know, things will Always be OK. Help people when you can. But, only when they want to help themselves I do not know you but I want you to be great.

I read a statistic that Nursing is a major with one of the most scholarships available. Especially since COVID. It wouldn’t be too wise for someone to focus in on one of them as being the end all be all. I wish everyone the best of luck but, for those of us not sure what’s going on, it’s time to keep things pushing and looking for other alternatives. If this was your only game plan, it will definitely be harder to recover and keep pushing. Lesson learned I guess. I touch on this before, and it’s like so what if you’re low income. So what if you’re struggling. So what if you’re coming into it with a good GPA, because you’re not the only one. That’s why I always tell MYSELF.

No later than September 30, participants who were not selected will be notified. I would just say, be realistic with your self. If no one ran credit check on you by early to mid September than you probably aren’t / will not be selected. BUT, that is my OPINION. one thing for sure, you will get it no later than the 30th. I mean, In a perfect world, we would get the notifications prior but, it doesn’t really make sense, because if they start sending those out and then 199 people decide to decline or withdraw, what’s next. Doubt it would happen but still.

I doubt it. If you read the forum. It was touched on that a professor, has a few different students, who had 0 EFC, over 3.0 grade point averages and no defaulted loans but were denied. There will Be thousands of applicants with 0 EFC. Especially with the effects of COVID & what it did to a lot of people. Students in particular. People should start preparing for life without the scholarship. Many people struggle, many people have good grades, many people are religious and pray, many people do a lot of things, but try to reallocate your energy into stuff you can control. Whether your stress at levels above 1,000 or below 2, the outcome won’t be changed

I just spoke with someone. Here is what I got. I’m not saying anyone is wrong or believe me over what the next person says. What I’m telling you is. I called. Today. Less than 5 mins ago and from the questions I asked. I received this. If the application had errors, you would not have went “under review” (which is consistent with what I was told on here)& For those “under review” folks… Basically what happens is, the applicants who have advanced (from thier respectful tier groups), were considered a priority or had a stronger score than you, so you are set as reserves and if someone who was selected, does NOT respond in time with the proper documentation or drops off of school, then they will go back to the application pool, And start again. All this will occur before Sept 30th. So, if you didn’t get anything yet. Make sure you check your tier group, have credit unlocked, and keep checking inbox and spam folders. If it’s something you really want, maybe tried to get on a payment plan for this first semester and go from there, because if you do get it, you’ll be reimbursed. but there is a limit of the amount of money the can spend. It is not an unlimited pool of money. So, out of caution, they don’t accept everyone because as you know, everyone’s program costs are not the same and some are ranging from 20k to 6 figures. So, to say 250-256 (which is the number range expected / likely to get the scholarship. Ongoing AND new) who have a program cost of 100,000 would get it, let’s be realistic. Thats over 25 millions dollars. The government isn’t allocating that for people’s education. And mind you, it’s NP’s, and other practitioners getting this too so 100k is generous to give a example from. all that being said, don’t feel like you have it in the bag. Because that’s not the case but don’t feel like you have no hope either because there is still a chance for us , undergoes folks. My EFC was over 13k, so I definitely wouldn’t be a priority anyways. I worked two jobs last year, and that’s probably why. But, there are people with EFC with a 0 that are in the same boat as me. I want people to accept things as the are and not have false hope or no hope at all. Or, however you want to be, then be that way. It’s only a suggestion from me.

I found it right after I left the comment. Is the 5576 an updated number? The packet says 6345$ & I circled the anticipated awards to be issued because I read one person say, that basically anyone who applies, will get it. I stand by people reaching out and asking how many have been awarded and judging it to that number. It’s one thing about being optimistic but let’s all be real with each out, and gather what we can, and share it so people aren’t getting false hope. It’s like telling a baby he or she can life and letting them jump off the roof LOL my EFC is 13789, which might explain why I haven’t gotten anything. I was working two jobs last year though so, that’s probably why .

Anyone remember the EFC requirement ?

I know one nurse who got denied last year. That’s who told me about it. She was trying to get funding for her NP. She used the mayor and the health commissioner as her references. This is who told me about the program. But, as far as the other stuff. How about, the people who got the letters already, do you concur? Did you include extra papers or that form in your packet? I would imagine that they have a limit on the money allocated for students schools. With covid and everything else going on. It would seem strange because these numbers, for tuition costs were crazy, just from the thread, imagine 200+ more applicants. If you call in, you can ask how many people were awarded so far. They will email it to you. And just x that by, let’s say, 40k, to be safe, and the number will probably blow your head off LOL WIOA, I’ll look into that. I appreciate it. I googled it. I didn’t see much about it. I’ll try our job and family services and see if they heard about it or have something like it. I appreciate you.

I hope you get it just from the fact that you have a savings and quit your job to be able to focus more on becoming a nurse. I respect moves like that. It was a tactical power move. I like to interpret data and be neutral but real. I planned on calling in tomorrow and asking about the credit freeze part. You gave me some good info that I have a fighting chance but, it seems strange that, being it’s the end of August, practically, and I didn’t get a credit check, and by theory, Everyone else got their checks around the same time and the difference in time between their credit checks and now and me now and the deadline, things aren’t in my favor. That’s how I see it. My program costs 60k, I bought a duplex before this, to allow me to rent the other side out and be rent free while in school, but figured it’s a win win because, I’ll keep this for an investment property is I don’t get the scholarship, but I’m saying, 60k, if I had to pay for school, I would just use on more real estate, if I had that much money. I work in public health now. As a health inspector. I’ve worked with nurses during the pandemic and I hate my job now, just because, I feel like I can help people so much more as a nurse and remain in public health. Long story short, I was told about this scholarship and applied. There were a few programs but since I have a BS already, I wanted to do an accelerated. But it’s expensive. I just have it a shot and applied, did a couple pre reqs and that was it. Now I’m in but have a start date and no intentions of taking fat loans out to pay for it. My back up plan, is to remain working in public Health. I didn’t give up everything I had for it. I just prayed and applied. If other people got it, then they deserved it. No sleep lost. Only happy for them. I just kept checking my portal and seeing under review and didn’t understand. After some research, I found this. I’ll prob give it until the day before classes and then drop, which is only a few days LOL for me to not even get a credit check, at this point, being realistic, my odds are low low.

I didn’t mean to sound sad or desperate. It’s all good. The cookie crumbled that way. Oh well. Other people got it and ranked higher so they deserved it. I just wondered what was going on and I’m getting clarify now with the thread. I’m happy that I found it!! Did you get the scholarship !?
