HRSA 2021-2022
Mine is close at 80k and that’s without medical insurance needs and supplies. Does anyone think that the cost of a program is a deciding factor when they choose who receives a scholarship? That was one of my worries when applying. And since I still haven’t heard anything I’m starting to believe it could be a possibility. :(

So there is a possibility that people in tier 1 still haven’t been notified? I have an EFC of 0, a 3.934 GPA, lots of leadership positions (one being president of my college), and 3 years of volunteering with medically underserved populations (one being working with detainees at cook county jail). I’m just feeling super discouraged, yet still trying to remain hopeful; this scholarship would be life changing.

Congratulations to everyone receiving finalist emails and credit checks, unfortunately, for me I haven't received a credit check, an email, or a status change on my account. My EFC is 0 and I am enrolled in an MSN program. Im still hoping for the best. Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone like me still waiting to hear something. Question: people have still received the scholarship without a credit check?

Rush GEM Fall 2021
Once I received my financial aid package I was given a smaller scholarship through the college of health science; however, I want to state that undergrad is different than graduate school when it come to financial aid. I received most my merit based grants through the pell grant and other federal based assistance. But it still wasn’t enough to cover tuition and living expenses so I had to take out loans. Once I received the larger scholarship I was able to cover my tuition and and some of my living expenses, so I was was extremely fortunate. Each college at Rush is different, as is every individual program, so this is just my experience with the College of Health Sciences BSHS program- the College of Nursing could do things differently. I do know that Rush has opportunities to apply for fellowships that give students accepted a scholarship. Also, if you Google nursing scholarships and loan repayment there are many opportunities available to help offset some of the costs.

Rush GEM Fall 2021
Well 76K sounds a lot better than 88K so I'm definitely glad I will be attending Rush this Fall. @remis58 @redivy As a Rush graduate, I wanted to add my experience with scholarships at Rush. Rush has a lot of generous donors that help students tremendously with scholarships. I received a large scholarship during both years I was a student; however, I was not offered the scholarship with my acceptance. I was nominated by faculty as were other students in my cohort (almost everyone in my program received some type of scholarship). I know it can be scary looking at the price tag (trust me it keeps me up at night too), but I know that Rush loves their students and philanthropy is constantly looking for donations to help offset tuition costs for students. I tell myself that if 76K is what it costs for me to get a wonderful education, a job that I love, and access to endless opportunities then its definitely worth it in my book. I hope that helps to ease the financial anxiety a little bit.

Rush GEM Fall 2021
I just wanted to add that the 72K for UIC is based on in-state tuition numbers. Here is the chart I found:
-
Rush GEM Fall 2021
I was just doing a little research into that information because I was curious and it looks like: Rush: 6 semesters (74 credits) 1035 per credit with fees included = $76,590 UIC: 7 semesters (77 credits) Base per semester 5935 + 4484 (nursing charge) = $72,933 If anyone notices I made a mistake please fell free to correct my information.

Thank you! The ability to sit for the Clinical Nurse Leader exam. I don’t think DePaul has tied into their curriculum. So if you plan on looking into leadership roles as a nurse it might be beneficial to have that certification and knowledge.

Rush GEM Fall 2021
I have a few friends that are currently attending rush (in programs other than nursing) and they have told me that the Summer term might be the last one predominantly online and fall 2021 may be back to normal attendance. But that’s just based on what they have been hearing. Also some of the programs have been in person since the beginning of the year.

Yes, I applied to DePaul as well. I think they will be sending out their acceptance letters any day now. I follow that forum as well and a few people have received letters.

Rush GEM Fall 2021
Just saw my acceptance letter! I can’t wait to meet you all! And for those of you that are waitlisted don’t lose hope. Remember, Rush may be your first choice, but it may not be someone else’s, so keep you head up and think positive thoughts. Ahhhh I’m just so excited- who else is thrilled they sent out the letters crazy early this morning ?

Rush GEM Fall 2021
Hi! Chicago native and Rush University grad here. I attended Rush for my undergrad degree and now am hoping to gain acceptance into the GEM program. While I attended Rush quite a few students lived at the Taylor Street lofts (university student housing for mostly UIC and Rush students). I believe that Rush even has shuttle bus that has scheduled times that it picks up and drops off students (I would double check that incase covid changed the situation). I believe its a pretty affordable student option if you can find find a few roommates. https://www.tailorlofts.info Another option thats super close is the SCIO apartments right down the street. Its about $1500 for a super small studio if your not interested in having roommates. https://www.sciochicago.com/?utm_source=gmb&utm_medium=organic&utm_campaign=gmbinfo I hope I could help. Please feel free to reach out wit any other questions. I'm pretty familiar with the area and the University.
