Hello all,
I'm starting this thread for the new applicants for the hrsa nursing scholarship 09-10. Tor prettylady, I think its a random selection. Its the luck of the draw.

Curious:twocents: ??? To the one's that have been contacted; what's your age, family dynamics, school cost and credit score? Just curious as to what criteria they used to select.
Don't think you'll be able to crack a code here. You'll just have to wait.

I called and emailed the call center, here is the email they sent back:
"Thank you for your inquiry to the HRSA Call Center. The award notifications for the Nursing Scholarship Program have been delayed. The Award Notifications will be received in the next few weeks. If you have not been award you will receive notification explaining why no later than October 31, 2009."
My question about awards was answered by the routine, "we can not give that information over the phone", but I was told that the final decision were not made until September 30th, and they do not know where the notification process is at this time. She said keep waiting until I am notified.
I did not receive an email, am 0 EFC and in an RN program.

Hi,
I'm curious about how they determine who should get the award also. I was first funding preference, I am married, have seven children, and am in my early thirties. My credit score isn't too good, because I have transferred all of my credit cards to a debt management program. I have not ever defaulted on a fed. loan. I am in a traditional BSN program that costs about 27000 per semester. I am a junior, will graduate in 2011. I have never received any email stating that I was considered as a finalist or alternate. Do you think it was because of my debt management program??

I thought it was a random process. All of the first preference applicants will be selected randomly until awards are exhausted.
I don't think it is random. I asked a call center rep that once, and he said they consider a lot of different factors. But then again, one really can not trust anything that one of those reps says on the phone anyway.
oh ok, i guess i had that idea when i read the scholarship bulletin. i wonder why notifications are delayed if they already know who will be awarded.
maybe the funding was not available.?
