I'm getting worried. Anyone have any helpful tips other than study & repeat. LOL.

Sorry Sabby,

It may be Sunday, but when you are 1) trying to get into NS, 2) Waiting for classes to start, 3) have classes that you are taking through the summer or 4) trying to get a heads up on NS classes (what I am doing!!) you can't relax. And once NS starts, with what I have been told, there is no relaxing for the next 2 years!!!

Please, rewrite the song with the correct terms and post it on here! Might help learning the bones a little easier!! LOL!!

Have a great Sunday, or what is left of it~

BTW, I had realized that I didn't have the skeleton man or the skull or vertebrae bones on my website, so they are uploading even as I type!! So, if you got on there hoping to download or print them, give me about 10 minutes and they will be on there!!

Awesome, Awesome, Awesome. :) Can't wait to peek through everything here.

PS - Are you getting the same storms I'm getting? (DFW)

Kept 2 body size posters on my wall in bedroom/ one of muscles/ one of bones. Learned one part each day. One day I learned the head, then torso, Left Arm then right arm, then hands, and so on.

I just stood there talking to myself in my room everyday.

Hi ceraleigh,

Sorry, I missed your reply on here!! Thanks again for the comment about my site!

As far as the storms, we are getting the thunder, but not much rain. It keeps teasing us, but not outputting much!!! That is how it usually goes around here. Some people say that since we have the lake around here, and are at a lower level than the surrounding areas, it keeps the rain away. It is funny, you can watch on doppler that it comes right towards us, then breaks off on each side, goes around us, then meets back again on the other side. Weird, but true!!! Anyway, hope you are staying safe there. Y'all have gotten tons more rain than we have here.

This is the website for the Biology book we used. It has computer matching games that were INVALUABLE. If you do it a little bit every day it is easy to learn.

Hit the Self Study tab at top left of page

Pick a chapter from left column of page (example - chapter 7 is bones), then hit "labeling exercises" in the main body of page.

I found these extremely helpful for the bones and muscles.

Good Luck!

I used an A&P coloring book w/colored pencils

Flashcards, flashcards, flashcards

I get the kind with a metal ring through the stack and keep them in my pocket. Any spare couple of minutes, I'd pull them out and get studying :)

We used models for our practicals, so for the muscles I would write the numbers on one side and muscle name on the other, along with the other info we needed for that muscle.

I also took digital pictures of the models and downloaded them to my iPod, again, so I could carry it around with me and study whenever I had a minute.

For the bones, they skulls and bags of bones we could take home with us to study, that helped a whole lot.

Good Luck!!

Peace,

Cathie

My boyfriend and I played point and tickle.....

Haha. I'm kidding. But in all reality, it helped me to visualize the parts of the body on the tests after I had pointed out parts while I studied.

This website has tons of mnemonics to help you remember anatomy, etc.

Well, I did my studying first and then when I was ready, I actually had my husband quiz me.

The way I did this was I took the atlas I got with pictures of all the bones/muscles/etc... in it and I got some electrical tape from him and taped over the names of everything...he was able to still lift it an make sure I was right. So, that way, I had to remember it. Over time, from doing this, it really helped me to remember them!!

Also, be creative when trying to remember these parts...say the words in funny ways or incorporate some sort of funny saying that you'll never forget into it...that works for me (thanks to my DH as well...I will never forget the word Manubrium or what it is!)

Good luck...I'm sure you'll surprise yourself in what you can remember!!! I know I did!

Boy...muscles and bones are hard ones!!! There are soooo many!!

What worked best for me was tons and tons of "model time" during open lab! Touching and naming and associating with the parts around it was so helpful!

Flashcards are always a bonus. I make funny associations that pretty much only work for me. I find silly rhyming initials work best for me even though nobody else can understand how I came about them.

Learning them by systems/actions was helpful too. When learning what a muscle does, also learn what does the opposite. Some of the muscles are named after the bones so those are kind of a twofer...

good luck and though it's hard, it's so important to get the foundation that you will continue to build off of!!

Enjoy :) It can be a lot of fun!
