I have looked all over the Nursing Board website and find no information/application, or even mention of how to transfer an out-of-state license. (only for those with lapsed MA license) I am a new RN in Arizona and got a job with a small homecare company in Massachusetts. The lady wants to start training me immediately and seems to think its okay to do for a few weeks without an MA license?.... Does this sound right?

The sort of 'hide it', but if you go to this link
Applications & Other Forms
and then click Professional Credential Services it will bring you to where you can get the info
once you get to the PCS site click, 'candidates'
then 'health professionals'
Then "massachusetts"
scroll down to 'nursing reciprosity'
then 'application process'
RN
and then it brings this up (or you could just use this link https://www.pcshq.com/?page=health,uregisterednursesrnu) :
MA Nursing by Reciprocity - Registered Nurses (RN)
1. Download and complete application.
RN Application
Note: You must have a United States Social Security Number (SSN) in order to apply by reciprocity using this application.
Note: If a Good Moral Character question is answered yes, CLICK HERE. If you must complete the Board’s Good Moral Character Evaluation, required documentation should be sent directly to the Board AFTER submitting a completed application inclusive of fees to PCS.
2. Submit RN Application and fee to PCS.
3. Request license verifications from each state of licensure to be sent to PCS (whether active and inactive).
Click here to request license verification from participating Nursys states.
Use this form here if state is not a participating Nursys state (fees may apply).
4. PCS reviews application and verifications.
If incomplete, PCS notifies applicant in writing.
If complete, PCS mails Approval Letter to applicant.
5. PCS submits information to MA Board electronically.
6. Massachusetts Board posts license on website upon approval; click here to view.
7. Official license will arrive in mail within 21 business days
Great; I'm trying it now!

Moved thread to Massachusetts nursing.....what agency is this....you can't practice without a MA license. MA is not part of the licensure compact. To practice nursing in Massachusetts you must hold a current, valid Massachusetts nursing license.
To practice nursing in Massachusetts (MA) you must hold and maintain a valid, current license issued by the MA Board of Registration in Nursing (Board). M.G.L. c. 112, 80B and 244 CMR 9.02 define the practice of nursing which includes, but is not limited to, the provision of a nursing service by a nurse physically located outside MA to a person physically located within MA using telecommunications technology, seeking or accepting any paid or voluntary position as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) or any paid or voluntary position requiring that the applicant hold a valid license to practice nursing.Graduates of RN and LPN programs can not accept employment in nursing positions (including orientation to a nursing position) until after they have been issued a valid, current license by the Board.MA licensed nurses are responsible for complying with MGL c. 112, s.s. 74 through 81C, Board regulations and any other laws and regulations related to licensure and nursing practice including state tax and child support laws, mandatory reporting laws and continuing education requirements.

DO NOT start working without a Mass RN license. Depending on what is involved in your orientation, you might be able to start that without your RN license, as long as you will not be providing ANY patient care, doing any clinical work or charting, AT ALL. Not even ADLs.
