  1. Have you considered an office/paperwork job (if you need a break from the clinical side), or private duty nursing for just one person. Also you could teach nursing at a community college.
  2. I am a new nurse caring for a diabetic patient with a 1 inch cut just above his toenail. He hit it this morning, and now his toe is pink and warm. I am wondering if he should or should not wear shoes? It seems like a shoe might put undue pressure on his toe.. yet he would benefit from a shoe to protect his foot from further injury...
  3. I am asking anyone who knows Home Health Agencies. I am a new RN just hired to help out start up a Home Health Agency. We are trying to get a contract with some local elder care organizations and they are asking we be ready to take on 100 patients. We have about ten patients right now, about 20 HHAs, three RNs, an MSN, PT, and OT. We are looking to hire some people so we can get these contracts but don't know how many people we should hire... We are already being reimbursed by Medicare and Medicaid. Thanks!
  4. My problem is that I already have a BA. I am trying to get into a good school for RN-BSN but they dont accept people with prior bachelor's. So, now I am considering an accelerated BSN. I know it will be alot of repeated info, but I dont mind since I will learn it better and it will be as fast as getting an RN-BSN. But, I am wondering, will they accept me if I already have an ADN? I have checked into several programs that wont, but I was wondering if there was a program out there that would...
  5. Thanks for your comment. What part of the country are you in?
  6. I have looked all over the Nursing Board website and find no information/application, or even mention of how to transfer an out-of-state license. (only for those with lapsed MA license) I am a new RN in Arizona and got a job with a small homecare company in Massachusetts. The lady wants to start training me immediately and seems to think its okay to do for a few weeks without an MA license?.... Does this sound right?
  7. Could anyone help me to find out how to transfer my new Arizona license to Massachusetts? I went to the website suggested and could find no links or information about this process. They only have applications for people who practiced out of state with lapsed licenses...
  8. Thanks for the feedback; I'm leaning more towards just finishing up school. i would beg to differ concerning the comment about losing knowledge when you take a break. I took a semester off before this one and i studied on my own a little, and now i feel like i have more info in my long-term (rather than short-term) memory. But i'm sure that can differ from individual to individual.
  9. HI. I'm in my third semester for an RN program and I'm wondering if it would be wise to postpone my last semester and do an externship during that free time.... I really want to have an externship because I don't see myself being confident enough with my skills to jump into a job, and I also know an externship would raise the likelihood of even getting a job.... Also, a break before the last and most stressful semester would be very welcome... My main concern is: Would an externship accept me in this situation? Or do they have some strict rules that they only take you right between semesters with no break? Also, my grades are B's so I dont know if that would make it hard for me to get an externship... I guess it depends on the externship, but if anyone has specific knowledge of externships or general advice I'd really appreciate it...
