...to update your employment status on social networking sites? Once you have the offer letter in hand?
@aNaders-You got the job, you worked REALLY hard for this - so let people know (if you feel comfortable with it of course)!! I don't think it makes a difference when you post it, just so long as you have the offer :-)
Also, don't let the sharks get to you....they are everywhere in this profession and a lot of nurses eat their young.
And remember - NO question in nursing is a stupid one!!!
Congrats on the job
I ate his/her liver with some fava beans and a nice chianti... *slurpslurp*
To each his/her own. I don't do the book of face. Also, I figure if you are an adult, at least with people I interact with, it's assumed that, everybody is either working, or in the process of finding a job at any given point. I don't care about what ya'll are doing day in and day out, and I'd never dream to believe that what I'm doing is so important that I must announce every time I turn around. Having said that there are the really young ones that sort of grew up with facebook, so I understand why you do this. But if you are over 21, you should feel yourself moving away from stuff like that as you move on and mature and realize that everyone out there is doing the "ADLs" of life/work...
Heck, I have the job offer, signed paperwork, done my physical and drug screen. It is for a new specialty to me and I so want to post a few questions on AN about the specialty (I'm super excited about my new job), but I don't even trust that people would figure out who I am on here and start blabbing!
As for "the book of face" (ha ha, love it!), I use it a lot because it's a way to let family know what I am doing and find out what they are doing without having to endure boring phone calls!
I don't have my employer etc on my FB status or info.. People do get fired for stupid stuff sometimes.. I would however post something like "yeah, I got the job!!!" and leave it at that :)
I never mention the company or my title. I keep it very vague and general..
Congrats on the job !!!
