When I got interviewed at my current job I was told that I would go from x amount of money to x amount of money. This is a 10 dollar an hour raise in pay for just becoming a RN and have LPN experience. Well I got my RN and it seems as though my employers are dragging their feet. I feel as though since I now have a new role I should be compensated as such. I presented my paper work to HR and was told my new rate would have to be approved by the DON. I called the DON but she has not returned my phone calls. I plan on going in person tomorrow to make sure this is taken care of.
I'm wondering if I should be less aggressive or just have more patience with this process. How long does it normally take for them to make this change?
Even after I brought it to their attention more than once, a pay raise did not go into effect for me until the employer got good and ready to make the change. I would be in their face until they do it, and like others have said, make certain they make it retroactive. My raise was not tied to a concrete event, so I could not really force the issue. I am quite certain that they would have delayed it out of existence, had I allowed that. That kind of employer. The kind that turns a positive event into something negative.
thanks everyone. i got the call from hr today with an update that my status changed along with the pay increase. i'm so grateful to god. i really needed the increase.suesquatch- i took and passed boards last monday!!!

nclex lpn was ten times harder imo. i remember taking my lpn boards like yesterday. i had a ton of drugs and disease processes i never heard of! nclex rn was so much easier, still hard but less then lpn. for some reason infection control and delegation was common sense.
besides i was already familiar with alot of meds, procedures and critical thinking from working as a lpn, i applied my experience and it worked for me so far as answering the questions.

what was your experience?
i had the same experience. the nclex-pn was much harder and it was longer. i had 85 questions on the pn and 75 questions on the rn.
