How is your office set up/decorated?

Just because I'm curious.

What level are you - elementary, middle school, high school, etc?

How is your office set up - where is your desk, cabinets, how big is the space, do you have a bathroom, where in the building is it?

Whats on the walls, and counters? Do you have a lot of posters and papers? Is it bare looking?

Im at a large high school. We are in the front of the building, and the front part of my office is a large desk for my health aide with a door that can close if need be separating us. Im in the larger part of the office (theres also a 2nd secret door to the hallway in my area). We have 2 bathrooms - one for us and 1 for students, a little room for our fridge, a 3rd phone for calls requiring privacy.

We also have a back room which has our scale, an exam table, and vision/hearing screening equipment. Our supply closet is there too. THEN theres a small closet-room with an exam table and sink. I have a large counter with my 1st aid supplies. And 2 very large filing cabinets for health records and things. Our office used to be the attendence office and principal office back in the day.

My office is so bare!! I've only been here a year and a half and part of that time was maternity leave. With my aide leaving, who has been here forever, I feel like I have free reign to "decorate" how I want. Where do you all get posters and things to put up? I dont want to make it cluttered and unprofessional looking but want to make it a warm and comforting place too.

I have 11 campuses.

My office is at the D.O. and is simply for computer useage - typing reports, etc. I do have storage here - bandaids, etc., for each school. I don't see kids in here.

I have some posters on the wall in here that I got at the NASN Conference a few years ago in SF. They were given to me by the School Health Corporation - sort of Norman Rockwell-style of school nurse offices and sick kids.

I have no offices on each campus. The school secretaries are the ones the kids come to with boo-boos unless I happen to be on campus.

Decorations????? I haven't thought about that. I do have a picture of a louse clinging to a hair shaft, magnified about a thousand times, on a cabinet door. That's it other than required postings like evacuation route, etc.

Oh! Oh! Me too!

A big poster "Facts About Head Lice" and an enlarged view of lice.

Me too! I have the "life cycle of a nit" poster; I think it was put out by a pharmaceutical company. I have a desk/computer desk, 5 student-sized chairs, a camp-style cot, counters/cabinets and sink. There's two tiny refrigerators (one for meds, one I purchased that sits under my desk for my things :) and an attached bathroom/clothes closet/storage room for equipment. There's also a small table that holds some books and misc stuff and my small fan. It's pretty crowded in there! The walls/cabinet fronts have some pictures of animals, and a wire angel a parent gave me is on the wall over the cot. I do not have any external windows, but a large picture-type window that looks out to the front office. I have some snowman/snowflake window clings that are cute. I meant to take these off and put my Valentine's Day clings up, but I haven't had time to do that yet...

I'd love to just use regular lamps and not the incandescent ones, but there's not enough natural light in there for me to do that.

I do like my clinic, and consider myself luck as some of the other schools really only have large-closet types of clinics. My school is Pre-K through fifth - the best!

I am a HS RN in a small public school 7=12.

I am on the first floor by the main entrance. Walk in and the SW office and bathroom to the left, the secretary/waiting are right in front. my office to the right/back and to the right of me is a room with 3 cots, the sink etc.

I have windows. My last job I was in a closet with another nurse who smoked and no windows.

There were posters and things hanging on my puke green walls from the last nurse. I hung up a few, including a poster of Einstein with his tongue out because I thought it was cute. I also hung up Kittery's What Does A School Nurse Do? masterpiece.

I need plants.

I have 4 cots, a sink, a bathroom. my desk. 1 large 4 drawer filing cabinet, 1 small 2 drawer filing cabinet, a bookcase (bolted to the wall), 2 cabinets above my sink/counter and 2 cabinets under my counter.  I also have a small cabinet in the back of the main office by the staff mailboxes for other supplies that do not fit in my office (locked up of course). I just got told today to make a list of things I would like to make my office more user friendly/ easier for me.
