How much

Hello Filipina Nurses. I am looking for some help here, I met a girl in Hong Kong who I intend helping by sponsoring her through nurse training in Cagayan de Oro. She is from a poor family so needs my help.

Can you tell me please how much she would need monthly for living expenses if she is away from her family who are not in Cagayan. What are the tuition fees at Xavier college?

What qualification will she need to work abroad?

I have asked her but of course would like to know from those of you who have gone through the same thing.

Many Thanks.

hi! from what I remember in my university(level 3 accredited-deregulated status), ASHE courses includes all the general requirements/ subject requirements required from those with the BS courses related to health field. For student nurses, they will have to complete subject courses which include subjects with pre-requisites needed before one could enter the clinical years. a student should finish it for the first 2 years depending on the load he/she receives, then he/she can receive the ASHE certificate. Thus, upon completion, if a student decided to continue his BSN courses, he can formally enter the clinical years. That would mean he/she could begin the formal study related to his/her major course.

So, if she is finished with her ASHE course, that would mean by the summer or the next clinical years, she could then finally begin her junior year.

hope this helps.:)

Just want to add in that new graduates of Physical Therapy programs would need to have the Master's degree to be qualified for immigration to the US. A Bachelor's degree in PT is not anymore qualified as far as migrating to the U.S. is concern. They just changed this a couple of years ago.

how come you met her at hongkong?

Sponsor;

Were you able to get confirmation of her enrollment in a BSN program from the college administration? Are your issues resolved to your satisfaction? Your update would be welcomed and certainly instructive to others who are looking to sponsor students as well.

Cheers!

Hi All, A much delayed finale to this thread from me. I finally had enough and stopped sending her money. It took me a long time to find out what had been going on but it would appear that she was giving a good amount of her money to her brother who was trying to go through college at the same time. I always knew she was spending too much and coming up with all sorts of excuses for it. There were of course plenty of family dynamics involved, the more I learn about the Philippines then the more I learn about that too. I gave her several chances to tell the truth which she didn't take, the end result is that she doesn't get qualified. The scenario was meant to be that she got a good job and then sponsored her brother, but that is not going to happen now either.

Another lesson learnt in life. I still love the Philippines and will be back soon, maybe I will find another protege, who knows!

A late answer too to wenursetheworld. I met her in a bar in Hong Kong where Filipinas often "work", maybe that should have been a warning.

hi sponsor..maybe this experience wont stop you from helping those who are real to their intentions..sometimes pipol tend to tell lies coz they wanted to help others too and sometimes wanted to lies coz they want more for them self..but u must not stop from this..maybe she was never lucky to take the opportunity seriously and truthfully..well God bless you..i wish i can do the same thing you are doing ..yes philippines is a wonderful place..good day..

Hi Mr Sponsor,

it is sad to know how you went through all that kind of stuff. i hope that you have now learned. well in the first place there were some sugesstions that i guessed were useful but hey that is it, a lesson that next time you have to make sure that you yourself will be there. pay the tuition directly to school/university and make arrangements for food allowance plus a little bit extra well planned and researched. i understand how you feel because i was once a sponsor, the only thing is they were my husband's relatives and my own relatives. yes you are right, there are people who become obsessed of feeling rich and tend to show off more than the well to do people who are humble and live frugally as much as they can. i learned my lesson and now they learned their lesson.
