In CA, at a union hospital, working 72 hours, claiming one deduction, I take home about $2400 per pay period.
That is definitely not the norm for the US.
The Bay Area is at the top of the pay scale in the US.

The pay scale is higher at the last facility I was at.....also union.

I am agency so it differs considerably! And my wages differ from what area I work, hours worked, shifts worked, facility I go to....so many factors...heck, only my tax preparer knows what I make in a year! LOL!!!
But I can say I make min of 26 bucks an hour..that is nursing home (usually can't pay as hospitals do), on day shift weekdays...it goes up much more if hospital and swing or nocs! Max per hour....35 dependant on shift and facility....
Needless to say I work the 35 one as much as possible! LOL! I average 3-4 days a week. But typically I am booked two months in advanced for 5 days a week...well lately anyway..that can change..that is the risk you take....

I make $30.00/hr. Dayshift and $33 for the evening part of my shift, and a dollar more per hour on weekends.
My take home pay would not offer you much information because I take out for a 403K, I'm repaying myself a loan I took out from my 401K, I have $50 taken out to my saving account as well, on top of medical insurance, diability insurance, vision, dental and taxes that would make you cringe.

LOL I'm an LVN in TX, and I work LTC and I make On average 4-5$$$ more than the R.N.'s at our hospital. Sad that we have this nice hospital with very underpaid nursing staff. But I live in a small town so I guess that could explain alot too. They start thier RN out at about 15 and change. We start our RN's at $25 and that could probably be raised with some higher skill level.

I am an RN in Texas currently employed full time for a rural hospital. I am also still in my first year of nursing so my starting pay is 17.50/hour. We have a shift dif of 2.25 from 3p-7p and a 3.25 shift dif for weekends. I have a mandatory 84 hours that I work, but with the way things are being staffed lately, I average about 88-90 hours every 2 weeks. They are taking out taxes at the highest rate so I average 1400-1600 take home pay every 2 weeks. (I don't have any other deductions such as for insurance, 401k, etc.)
I am about to change to PRN status and work for a couple of different hospitals and hourly pay will increase to 30$ hour, so I don't really know what that will be like but can't wait to find out!!! If I was a night person, I could earn even more.
