How many patients do you get on night duty?

I get 6-7 7p-7a on ortho floor and having a very difficult time what is everyones ratios on there floors? I think ortho is esp hard because of all pain, mobility issue. Sigh I need an easier floor!

I work at a group home and I have 3 :-) We partner with a Dsp (direct support professional, like a cna but unlicensed) and do all patient care together.

I work 12 hour nights (1800-0630) on an acute rehab unit and receive anywhere from 7 to 12 patients. I'll get 7 to 9 patients that night if we are fully staffed with nurses. If we're short-staffed, I'll receive 10 to 12 patients.

12 hour nights. 28 beds. 5:1 RN ration and 2 CNAs split the floor. Sometimes we get an extra to help at the beginning of shift. I realize I am blessed!

Holy hell. I don't know if I will ever be able to work in a hospital in another state. We have state mandated ratios of no more than 5:1 for med surg and 4:1 for tele. Our unit sucks in that we only get 1 CNA on nights for up to 28 patients. We usually have 2 primary patients and the charge nurses try hard to make sure they're not total cares.

I am a student, but tech on a med/surg. Our nurses are only supposed to have 6 pts at night, but that doesn't always happen, sometimes it is 7. There are times that I am the only tech on the floor with 43 patients (beds we have, usually we have about 35 pts on the floor.)

It gets crazy. I cannot believe some of you have 9-12, that's not even safe!!!

When I was working stepdown at my first hospital I had 5 pt, Im working med surg now and is 7. When I float to stepdown is 5

with no PCA. I have a question is it legal to pull pcas from the floor and assign their work to nurses?

Wowww that's awesome; it would be incredible to have 4 on tele!!!

It is definetly not safe

I'm on a tele floor 7 pts for the last month. Most of our or for some reason are confused or psych or just a pain in the ass making it very difficult to get any work done and then drop an admit in at some point.. It's horrible. I'm so ready to quit its unbelievable ;(

I need to transfer floor nursing sucks . At least at my facility
