1.) Do u currently work more than one job? Maybe one job part time/full time and one job PRN for extra money?

2.) How many jobs have you had since nursing graduation??

Specializes in Case mgmt., rehab, (CRRN), LTC & psych.

I have three (3) different jobs. Two are full-time, and the third is a PRN gig.

First job is Monday through Friday from 6am to 2pm (five 8 hour shifts).

Second job is Saturday and Sunday from 6:30pm to 6:30am (two 12 hour shifts, but I'm paid for 32 hours under my workplace's weekend Baylor plan).

Third job is for whatever shifts need to be filled, typically 2pm to 10pm during the week.

Specializes in MS, ICU, Peds, L&D, Camp, HH.

1. I work per-diem for a pediatric home care agency most of the year, and take time off from that job to work as a camp nurse full-time during the summer. Being around kids/ youth helps keep me 'young at heart'.

2. Worked mostly hospital nursing earlier in my career (1984 graduate), now mostly home health/ community nursing. I might still be working at the hospital I was first employed at, but for an out-of-state move (from NY metro area to PA) when we bought a house and had our first child. I still miss my old stomping grounds, CPMC now NY Presbyterian.

1) Yes. I am a part time nurse..... And a "full time" Mom! :D

2) Three. I worked in a LTC facility, and two hospitals.

Specializes in ER, Medicine.

I would love to do PRN in addition to my FT job, but no one really wants an inexperienced nurse for PRN positions.

Oh the misery of being inexperienced!

Specializes in ICU.

I work full time in ICU, 37.5 hours per week, and am on the nurse bank for PRN shifts as well. In practice though I only work PRN on the ICU, which pays an enhanced rate.

If I was truly desperate I might consider working on the wards but feel that it isn't worth the risk to my licence - wouldn't know the routine/staff/speciality.

Have worked at the same Trust since graduation, and have worked mostly in critical care but also did 2.5 years in vascular surgery.

Thread moved to the General Nursing Forum as not in the form of a poll.
