How many hours a week were you in school first year LPN?

Trying to manage my schedule for the first year. The school wouldn't give me a sample schedule but said I need to be prepared to be in school 8-4 M-F First semester I already have 2 of the 5 classes completed, A and P and Nutrition, and I already have 2 classes for Spring semester completed. Just trying to get a good idea of the schedule and hours. I realize schools are different. I'll be applying to Vermont Tech

I'm in last week of Geriatrics (it's a beast) then clinical start Sept 1st! I attend school m-th 8-3:30 (reality class start at 8:30 get out at 2:30) but I'm in about 4 months in and once clinical start we have to be there at 6:30a so schedule won't be a set schedule!

My LVN program was scheduled Monday through Friday for roughly 40 hours per week. Clinical shifts took place Monday through Wednesday, and classroom (didactic) occurred every Thursday and Friday.

I'm taking only nursing classes, all prerequisite/coreqs done. Tues and Weds 8:30-12:30, Thurs and Fri 8:30-1:30. We plan on doing study groups,etc in the afternoons. They've told us to plan on 25-40 hrs in total commitment. Given the reading load in our syllabus and extra testing time (we do ATI for NCLEX practice throughout), 40 hrs is likely. Hope this helps!

Hi- I just started my LPN classes this week. I had already completed all pre reqs,(A&P, math for allied health, & speech/communication). Currently, I have 3 online classes, and 2 classes on campus. The campus hours are 8:30-12:30 mon-Thursday, with a 2 hr mandatory lab per week. I feel like I'm on information overload!:unsure:

We were 40 hrs per week as well. 3 of the 8 hr days were clinicals. I did no hw after clinicals. I've spoken with other nurses and they have told me they did the same. Trying to study on clinical days simply did not work for me.

In my school, the first few weeks were all lecture approx 9-5. Then when clinicals started, the schedule changed so that we had to be at the clinical site as early as 5:45/6:30am, finished around 3.

Did most studying on weekends.

I started August 15th and so far it's been 8am to 2:30 with a 11 to 12 lunch hour M thru Thursdays. A few of my classes though are block classes so next month with be Clinical and then I'll be starting a few new classes and finishing my block classes.

Clinical will be on Thursdays from 6:30am to 12:30. But we have Friday classes, that aren't mandatory, to watch videos to help learn medical terminology that we have a test on, every Monday for A&P.

Hi! I am currently in an LPN program in Alabama. I have completed all of my pre-requisites, save one- A&P II- and this is my schedule:

-Monday: 8am to 5pm (Sim Lab day)

-Tuesday: 9am to 12pm (Pharmacology)

-Wednesday: 9am to 4pm, 1 hour lunch from 12pm to 1pm (Fundamentals/Health Assessment)

-Saturday: 7am to 12pm (Clinical day)

I work on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays and usually spend about 4 hours each night studying (give or take ;)). Hope this helps some!
