I am a Registered Nurse in Florida. I plan on moving from Florida to New Jersey this year. I registered tonight on the NJ BON website, so I could read the application procedure and requirements. I am just wondering how long this process takes? Does it only take a few weeks to receive a NJ RN license? Or does this whole process take several months?
It had tons of things that weren't checked off so I called the BON and asked them to walk me through how I can get them checked off. They basically explained that all I was actually missing was board approval and once I get that, everything else would be taken care of. AKA: I had sone everything I could. They gave me the whole speech about how I had applied only a month ago and my application was complete for only about a week so it would be another 2 months, minimum.
Long story short, I drove to Newark that same day and walked out 10 minutes later with my license in hand.
Yes you do now per federal mandate. What state do you wish to live and work? Most states are starting to enforce the federal mandate that one must have a valid SSN to obtain, renew or endorse a professional license. Some states will accept your application but not issue a license until SSN is provided, like FL.
I am currently licensed in vermont but my license will expire in march 2015 & i cant renew it without ssn. I will have my interview at the embassy by next year & i guess i need to have an active US license during the interview that's why i need to apply for endorsement to have an active license.

VSC requires proof of NCLEX passing. Is your job or intended state of practice in NJ? If not why waste $350+ fir application and background fees to get a license you don't need? You need an active license for the state where you are intending to work/have a job offer. So having a NJ or VT license but intending to live/work in CA or WA is both costly and useless.
hi who of you here could help me out. i am a registered nurse and planning to endorse my license in new jersey. I submitted the application but they returned it back to me asking for a endorsement state where license was originated. i dont know what they mean with this. I submitted my nursys already. PLEASE SOMEBODY OUT HERE WHO ENDORSED SUCCESSFULLY THEIR LICENSE IN NJ. THANK YOU IN ADVAMCE :)
What US state are you currently holding an active RN license? You can only endorse an existing active license. If for example you only have a nursing license in Brazil you must apply for a nursing license by examination as an internationally educated nurse.
