Im currently a BSN RN working in NJ. I have about a year and a half experience and am starting to think about going back to school. Long term, I plan on working as an FNP in NJ - ideally in primary care or in some sort of reproductive endocrinology clinic. In looking at different programs, I am unclear what the requirements are for MSN v DNP. In NJ, will I need a DNP to practice, or will a MSN in FNP suffice? What about NY? I have no desire to prolong my schooling if its not necessary. Any advice would be majorly appreciated. Thank you!

I just accepted my first job offer. I feel very lucky to have a job but I hate the one that I got. Its a full time night position on a VERY busy unit (nurse:patient ratio as high as 1:9!). I am so stressed not just about the amount of patients I will have, but about working nights in general. I do not function well on lack of sleep and without social interactions (I get very sad when I am unable to spend time with loved ones) and am so worried I wont be able to last because of this. Anyway, I just noticed a job posting on the unit I was just hired to for full time DAYS! This position was not there when I applied. Is there a way I would be able to switch to this open position? Who do I speak to? HR? Or the nurse manager? I begin orientation next week and start by orienting on days 2 weeks later. I don't want to wait until I'm on the unit to bring it up though because the position may be filled by then. Any advice is much appreciated!

Hi All! I'm a may BSN graduate with my RN. I am particularly interested in working in Northern NJ/Bergen County area. Many of the applications ask for requested or required salary and I never know what to write so I usually just say "negotiable." Anyway, I have an interview this Wednesday and I have no idea what to say if they ask me about salary. What is a normal salary for a new grad? Do I request that or do I request higher in the hopes that they'll say yes? Any and all input is greatly appreciated! Thank you so much for all of your help!

It had tons of things that weren't checked off so I called the BON and asked them to walk me through how I can get them checked off. They basically explained that all I was actually missing was board approval and once I get that, everything else would be taken care of. AKA: I had sone everything I could. They gave me the whole speech about how I had applied only a month ago and my application was complete for only about a week so it would be another 2 months, minimum. Long story short, I drove to Newark that same day and walked out 10 minutes later with my license in hand.

I know who to contact for my case from the BON site, but I dont know how to contact them. Do you just call the BON and ask to be connected? Or is there some other way to get their contact information? I would be happy to call or email.

I hope my results are up by 3:15 too! So far, still nothing...

Its now been over 48 hours since finishing the exam. (I finished by 2:45.) The PVT trick was the good pop up but I'm still so anxious, I just want to know for sure already.

Hi all! I took my NCLEX on Tues at 2pm. I was done before 3pm. It is now 230 on Thurs and my quick results are not yet posted. When I called Pearson Vue to ask when they will be posted, they said they will not be posted until Friday at 7am since the 48 hours starts from the next full business day. Has anyone else had this problem? This makes no sense.

To explain how NCLEX scoring works: Getting to question 265 just means that you were never above or below the passing line long enough for the computer to determine your result. Therefore, your passing status is determined purely on the level of the last question, not even on your answer to it. So if it was above the passing line, you passed, and if it was below, you failed. Also, running out of time means that the computer will score the last 60 questions you took. If any 1 was below the passing line, you fail. If they're all above it, you pass. In all other exams, the computer will just shut off anywhere from 75 to 265 when it determined with 95% certainty that you are either below or above the passing line.

Done after 45 min/76 questions. I don't feel like I rocked it or like I bombed it. Tried the PV trick and got "Our records indicate that you have recently scheduled this exam. Another registration cannot be made at this time." Will post back when I get my quick results. Fingers crossed.
