I am a Registered Nurse in Florida. I plan on moving from Florida to New Jersey this year. I registered tonight on the NJ BON website, so I could read the application procedure and requirements. I am just wondering how long this process takes? Does it only take a few weeks to receive a NJ RN license? Or does this whole process take several months?
Hi nyrn1989! I am trying to move back to NJ from NC and understand how to apply but I am trying to figure out if my NC license can be elgible up untill my move in date. once you get your "number" from NJBON did it make your NY license inactive?
Your NC license is valid until expiration as NJ is not a NLC ("compact") state. You can keep both licenses if you meet the criteria for renewal and pay the fees.
Plan on a 6 month wait for the NJ license. That is 6 months from the time you get all your information in. If it is longer than that you will need to get re-fingerprinted. There is a $22 charge for this. I know someone who waited close to a year. It doesn't matter how many times you phone the BON, they don't seem to care. Every time you call, you are told the same thing. You just may want to consider working and living in another state. PA is much easier to get. Plenty of jobs on the other side of the river and a lot less of a hassle.
Hi all! Hopefully this comment doesn't get buried under all these comments but I just recently got my NJ license a few days ago. I currently live in Connecticut but I want to move to NJ to be closer to my family so they suggested I get my NJ license. After reading these message boards, I was afraid that the process would take months but I applied for endorsment anyway. I applied on March 17, 2014 and got my license April 11, 2014. Nort even a month later! I was shocked. The process was pretty straight forward, mailed in the necessary info to begin, a few days later I got fingerprint cards mailed to me (I traveled to NJ to have my prints done so it would be in their system faster). Nothing else was ever mailed to me. Every day I'd check the checklist online and on the 11th of April I read that my license was active! Now to the hard part: to find a job haha. Good luck to every one doing this. I'm not sure why I was able to get it in just a few weeks. My advice is to make sure everything is filled out correctly and completed. I sent only one email to the NJ BON to ask them if I could do anything to make it go faster (never got an email back), but maybe someone read it and helped me out. Good luck!
Hi everyone,Can anyone tell me how much the fee is to obtain the NJ license? I have been applying all over NYC Hospitals but it has been very difficult getting a response. I'm thinking of trying NJ hospitals. Thank you!
$200 for endorsement plus $62.75 for fingerprint and background check. Do you have a BSN? Have you tried looking at other than hospital such as acute rehab, LTACH
