How long does it take to get ATT for NCLEX

Updated:   Published

I graduated a few weeks ago and sent my applications a few days after graduation (to the MA state board and Pearson Vue). How long does it take to get an authorization to test? I want to take the NCLEX asap. Thanks!

Mine took 2 1/2 weeks after graduation (NE).

Wow, mine came pretty fast. I graduated in late May 06 and had to work to pay for my ATT. I spent last week Thursday, June 8, and I got it yesterday, June 12, 06; that was pretty fast. I guess my school did what they had to do!

:( I am STILL waiting for my ATT! It's been a week and a half so far.

I graduated on 6/06 and just got mine today.

How long is it between your ATT and receiving the first available test date?

It depends on where you decide to go to the test. Last Summer, when I took LPN boards, I got my ATT at the end of July. The nearest testing centers to me (all about two hours away) had testing dates available in late August and after. I decided to travel a little further (3 hours) and was able to test within three days of getting my ATT. I may do the same thing with my RN boards, but I haven't received my ATT yet!

I got my ATT about two weeks ago, and the first available date I could get in the center in Princeton was July 13th. (about six weeks after my ATT) I've heard they're at the end of July and early August.

You are all lucky--my school didn't submit ANYTHING for us--we had to do it all ourselves. Many of us weren't aware that we could offer our application online (this is Illinois, Chicago), and now we've been waiting three weeks since sending the application for the ATT. We also graduated the 2nd week of May (this is Truman College in Chicago). It's almost July now, and I haven't got my ATT! I won't be able to take NCLEX before my new job starts at this rate. I'm supposed to start my career on July 10 but will be late. I'm furious.:angryfire

My husband is upset, too, asking how they can do this to new nurses when there's a shortage. Outrageous!

I'm an NJ grad, and my review course was from June 5th to the 8th, and my school didn't send in the necessary paperwork til after that. I just got my ATT emailed to me on the 21st, and the first possible date I could pick for NCLEX was July 19th. The only problem is that it is for an afternoon test, and I want it first thing in the morning, so I ended up going with July 31st. It kind of stinks cause I wanted to take it in the middle of July, and I don't have that option. The positive side is that I have more time to study!

I live in Illinois, and I'm unsure if the process is the same in all states, but I would imagine so. My school did not tell us we could apply through our Board of Nursing via the Internet, so they mailed our applications in a big group (sent on 5/22). Once your state BON receives your application, they will approve you and transmit the information to Pearson Vue. In Illinois, they share your approval via computer. I had been waiting 3-1/2 weeks and finally got ahold of someone at my BON, and she confirmed that she had approved me and updated the computer while I was talking to her (I had spoken with Pearson 1st & they didn't have my approval). I then called Pearson back, and they confirmed my consent and said I would have my ATT within 24-48 hrs. I was a little salty about this and then checked my email to find my ATT had reached me in less than 5 minutes! You do have to be registered with Pearson (& pay) to receive your ATT. My school did not clarify this, and some students had to wait longer.

I got my ATT on June 14th; my first available appt in my city was July 12th. I could have tested this coming week if I wanted to travel 1-1/2 hrs from home, but I chose to wait. So long story short, getting your letter can take a while. They say 4-6 weeks, and they weren't kidding.

The upside for me is that in my state, we can start working before we even get our ATT, but we cannot do anything that would require a license (I.e., meds, etc.), so I have been working since June 5th! Yay for RN pay! Good Luck to all of you new grads still waiting for letters! It seems like it will never come, but I PROMISE it will! Hang in there!

After you have sent in your application and it's been six weeks (the amount of time most BON takes to process an application), go to the Pearson Vue website and register. I don't know about other states, but in Cali, it's free. After registering with them, they will ask whether you want to be contacted via email or mail. Choose email because it's fast; if you choose to mail, you will receive your att in two weeks instead of two days via email. I registered in the afternoon and received my att in the evening. After receiving your ATT code, visit their website and schedule an appointment.

If they don't have your transcript, you can still receive your att, but you will not receive your results for the NCLEX until they are processed. Good luck.

I got my ATT in two weeks online.

What do you mean that you put ADN when getting a BSN? Do you represent that you were still finishing the semester when you applied? I thought you had to put the degree you are receiving.
