  1. Hi, Does anyone have any info on Children's in Denver? I am a RN/BSN currently working at Children's Hospital in Boston, MA and I am moving with my husband to Denver this fall. I looked at the Children's Denver website and it looks like they are moving to a new facility in October? Does anyone have any info on this or know if they will be hiring more nurses for the new facility? Thanks in advance!
  2. Thanks for the great advice everyone. I called HR and found out that the differential IS added to the salary (although it is not much!). I also found out that paying nurses by salary is the case for all of the major non-union hospitals in my metro area. I guess I will tough it out for at least a year, because I am learning and seeing things that I would never see at a community hospital. Thanks again. MANurse
  3. I just started a few weeks ago at a major metro teaching hospital. We are paid a salary (i.e. 12 hours for a 12 hour shift even if we are there for 15). You don't clock in or out. Is anyone else paid like this? I feel like this is a really raw deal as I work 50 hours a week and get paid for 40. The hospital I am at has a great reputation, but I am beginning to think it is not worth it. They also have no differentials (just a standard add on of a few dollars an hour for everyone) and I work a day night rotation! Being a new nurse is hard enough and I am quickly loosing all motivation. Any similar experiences?
  4. i graduated from curry's accel program. it was a challenging program and i am glad it is over. the clinicals are excellent and the theory courses left me feeling prepared. i passed the nclex with 75 questions and now i am working at a boston hospital. the classes are two days a week the first semester, 3 days of clinical and one day of class summer semester, and one day of class with one day of clinical the last two semesters. all of the class and clinical days are full (long) days. there is a lot of outside reading and work, so they recommend that you don't work during the program. i worked my last semester, but i don't recommend it. hang in there and you will do great!
  5. 1. how many questions did you take on nclex? 75 2. what study materials did you use? did you take a test review course? davis (used cd only), nclex-rn review made incredibly easy, nclex-rn 3500 cd, and mosby cat. my school provided two review courses from private testing companies. 3. did your son offer any testing (eri, ati, hesi)? hesi (scored 1050) 4. how long did you wait for results of the test, or are you still waiting? 49 long hours 5. what were your thoughts coming out of the test (total disbelief, certainty you had failed, confident you had passed)? i was convinced that i had failed. 6. was this your first attempt at nclex? first (and last--i passed).
  6. Congratulations! I am still waiting...I took the test Tuesday at 9, but Pearson VUE still says that my results are not available! Hopefully I will know soon.
  7. i feel the same way too. i had 75 questions and i have no idea how i did. i keep thinking i failed. i was an a student in school, but this test was unlike anything i have experienced. i will find out tomorrow morning...waiting is the worst. good luck!
  8. I also took the NCLEX this morning. It sounds like we had the same test (prioritization, select all, etc.). It was so difficult. I feel like I failed even though it shut off at 75. Now the hard part...waiting for results. Good luck!
  9. i understand what you are going through. my test is at 9am tomorrow. good luck and try to relax (i know from experience-relaxing is easier said than done)!
  10. I graduated a few weeks ago and sent my applications a few days after graduation (to the MA state board and Pearson Vue). How long does it take to get an authorization to test? I want to take the NCLEX asap. Thanks!
