I'm trying to get accepted into St Petersburg College. I know I need a great GPA and all the pre-recs first. Once you have that how long did it take you to get in? Anyone been accepted into the program recently?
omg...I just applied and mine is a 3.81. If i don't in, I'm going to cry. I applied last year at PHCC and had a 3.5 plus the highest score at the school on the NET test and I still didn't get in....ahhhh!!! I don't want to go to LPN school and work at a nursing home.
Okay,
Just want to ease everyone's nerves a bit. About me: I have a B.S. in business management. I had a 3.0 in the pre-req courses, and an overall 2.87. I struggled with my science pre-reqs, to be honest. I ended up being on the alternate list for Jan 07 class and decided to commit to Morton Plant for the 2 years if I got in through Earn As You Learn. Honestly, so happy I did. Morton Plant has been very very good to me, and those who had higher GPA's then me, some have not progressed. I, on the other hand am proud to say I've had a solid B average (a 90 is a B in nursing school by the way) in all my nursing classes. Honestly, a 2 year contract, your first year you are learning and the second year, it is all firming up for you. Those of you who think you'll be tied down, by the time you finish your 2 years, you will be developed and ready to seek new adventures. Plus, the fact that I was paid for 20 hours of work (while being in class) towards benefits really helped my family out since I am the benefit holder. I've worked anywhere from 20 hours a week in addition to school to 40 hours on top of school. I really don't think the commitment is that big of a deal. Honestly, the fact that I am a tech on the floor that I'll be a nurse on helps me tremendously. I know where to go for resources and know the tricks when it comes to dealing with ortho and neurosurgery patients. AND my manager has even let me out of teching over the summer so I could participate in our rollout of electronic medical charting. So I haven't really cleaned a bum for a while now. Looking forward to graduating (December) and wrapping up this last semester. I was in your shoes at one point, just have faith, and honestly, don't be to quick to bypass options that get you in school and get you done. If you do...that is another 6 mos you are waiting for acceptance and another 6 mos you could have knocked off that 2 year contract you were avoiding making better money. Just a thought....good luck to all and let me know if I can help at all.........I wish you great success.
Hey, I got a letter on Monday saying that my application was not complete. It is complete and I called there twice this week and finally talked to an advisor that told me somehow the CTS 1101 credit wasn't applied in time for the application review. The acceptance letters for the second pool are going out by August 15th. Did anyone get an acceptance for the first pool?

I will tell you now with that school to HAND walk everything to them, document who/when you speak with people and follow up on complete applications for EVERYTHING at all times. Good luck with that!

You aren't kidding!! I have been calling them off the hook for the past two months. I have left messages constantly for that advisement office at the HEC. They probably groan when they hear it's me again, haha. When I applied for fall 07, they told me they never recieved my transcripts from college, but then I called the central records and they in fact did receive them but the advisement office said they never saw them so I got rejected. I had a another problem recently during this application cycle that someone changed my Anatomy and Physiology class from BSC 1085 to BSC 1083, which does not meet their requirements. It took me almost a month to get that straightened out. It's ridiculous the way you have to baby sit them and double and triple check everything that happens. I have two bachelor's degrees and can't even get into their ADN program. It's extremely frustrating dealing with them. I guess I will have to wait another week to see if they accepted me this time around.

Thats funny......I feel like they groan when I call too . Maybe try to email them. Good luck to you!
I'm glad I'm not the only person that's had these experiences... I've had half that department on the phone or bombarded with emails for the past month.
Does anyone know where I can find information about the Earn as you learn programs...? I'm looking at the Bayfront/Morton Plant websites and not having much luck.
Also, does anyone know what typical accepted student GPA's are for the program. I just want to know where I stand. It's very frustrating when programs are more concerned with your Comp 1 grades than your overall B.S. performance...

If you google earn as you learn you will find information and there is usually a phone number referenced on there too, which is a recording of when the next "information meeting" will be held for new candidates. Also, that "information meeting" is really a job interview for all intensive purposes so make sure you dress accordingly.
You can try this link for RN/LPN program information packets
