I am going to put in for a schedule change at work today, so hopefully they will be cool about it. I can't buy all the books right now either, I only ordered three to try to get started on the reading at least. I am anxious about starting too.

Thanks so much for the information. I will order the Ackley book and the Kozier and Erb book and study guide to get started now. I hate those type of tests where you have to pick the best answer, the "most right". I can't believe they want a 40-50 page paper too, wow!

Which books would you recommend studying first? I was planning to buy some now just to get the reading started. I wish they would tell us all this up front. Is it better to buy the books at the book store at HEC or online? I didn't have a chance to stop in there to check the prices out. I am going to try to work as much as I can to pay the bills but my work is kind of inflexible when it comes to changing schedules. What do you think is hard about the program? The time commitment, the material, the testing? I am not sure what to expect or what I should focus on. Also, did you buy the recommended texts for Nursing 1? The Dirksen Clinical Companion and the Doenges and Gessler Nursing Diagnosis Manual sound like the most helpful. Thanks for the advice and tips so far.

I got my first pick schedule too. I got the evening program at St. Anthony's. I am going to try to work as many hours as possible but I am not sure yet how much I am going to be able to handle or how much the work will allow. I checked out all the books on amazon, the price was like $650, which isn't too bad considering the huge list they gave us. I guess this is the bulk of the book purchases at least. What program are you in?

Did you go to the orientation yesterday? I was wondering if you are planning to work through the program?

You aren't kidding!! I have been calling them off the hook for the past two months. I have left messages constantly for that advisement office at the HEC. They probably groan when they hear it's me again, haha. When I applied for fall 07, they told me they never recieved my transcripts from college, but then I called the central records and they in fact did receive them but the advisement office said they never saw them so I got rejected. I had a another problem recently during this application cycle that someone changed my Anatomy and Physiology class from BSC 1085 to BSC 1083, which does not meet their requirements. It took me almost a month to get that straightened out. It's ridiculous the way you have to baby sit them and double and triple check everything that happens. I have two bachelor's degrees and can't even get into their ADN program. It's extremely frustrating dealing with them. I guess I will have to wait another week to see if they accepted me this time around.

Hey, I got a letter on Monday saying that my application was not complete. It is complete and I called there twice this week and finally talked to an advisor that told me somehow the CTS 1101 credit wasn't applied in time for the application review. The acceptance letters for the second pool are going out by August 15th. Did anyone get an acceptance for the first pool?

I am also going crazy waiting. I applied for the January 2009 semester in the ASN program. This is my second time applying after finding out they never processed my complete transfer credits the first time. I have all the pre-req's, gen ed, and support courses complete (except for ethics) with around a 3.5 GPA, so hopefully I'll get in this time.
