I just reached the magic "1 year" a few weeks ago and am wondering how long everyone stayed at their first job?

3 Months. I started 2 PT jobs within days of eachother. I was so excited to get offered jobs that I couldnt say no. Plus I was about 6 months pregnant at the time and needed a back up job in case one decided to fire me for not disclosing my pregnancy in the interview. I decided to go back to the SNF and not the AL after my maternity leave. Its been over a year and I'm still there. Although technically, I started training on the floor at the job I'm at now before I started at the other place so I still consider this my first nursing job.

Specializes in Med Surg.

5 years. Still there.

full time 6 months, then I went per diem for three months. It was corrections and I got pregnanct and husband wanted me to leave.

After the six months I had to come to my local hospital, they had paid my way through school. I owed them a year and a half for school. After almost two years I will be leaving states so moving...

From corrections to the OR. lol

A little over 5 years but not by choice. I started looking for a new job after 2 and I was being very picky about where I worked next.

First healthcare job or first job period? First job less than 3 months. Hospital job, I hit my 1 year last month also!

Haha. 52 years nursing.

Specializes in geriatrics.

4.5 years at my first job in LTC.

2.5 years as a unit manager in LTC, second job.

9 months with same employer as a nurse educator for LTC, rehab and palliative units.

Specializes in critical care, ER,ICU, CVSURG, CCU.

I was at my first job for four years, you don't have a vote for that. You have 3 or less, five or more. Need to alter the poll.

About 6 months. Then went into acute care in same facility. Will never go back to working on a floor.
