How long is your LPN Program??

Published

I was just wondering how long everyone's LPN program is. I start my program in June 2010 and I think that it's going to be 18 months. Do you think that this is too long or not long enough for nursing school?

Just got accepted to start in Aug 2010 anD finish June 2011 - 10 months long and I am scared....it soooo much info in a short time!!!!!

Yeah, it is a lot of information in such a short time, but we can do it. I'm not saying that it is going to be easy though. I wish that I could just attend on Mon,Wed, and Fridays. That would give me a better chance to get some work hours in.

i start august 2010 and it is 15 months long. the advisor said that it used to be 12 but that they lengthened it slightly so that students could absorb the material better.

18 month evening program. Seems like a long time......until I looked at all the books.

They keep changing the program at my school as well. Sometimes it is 18 months and sometimes it is 15 or 16 months. I don't think that it is fair to the people taking the shorter program.

I don't see it as unfair to the shorter program. I'm glad my program is short, I know that it will be intense but it will be worth it when this time next year I will have my diploma and can begin apply to begin the RN program in its 2nd year.

It just helps me achieve my goals that much sooner.

Usually your state BON will mandate the number of hours of instruction needed. For instance my state requires 1350 hours, with the hours of my evening program that is 18 months, for the full time day students it is 11 months. But in the end we have all spent the same amount of time in school.

Just wanted to say thanks to all of allnurses.com's future nurse's or current nurse's who replied to this post...Good Luck and Best Wishes!!!

15 months not including pre-req

My program is 12 mths. I start back on Jan. 6 and will be done in July!!!

mine is two semesters, so that's around ten mnths i think. I'm not sure about the pre-requisites because I have my associates from another college and was 36 creds short of my BA in psychology when I decided to transfer to yet another college. So I already have a lot of the math and biology courses done as well as all english and psychology courses done. Very nervous because I know how much hard work its going to be!

Ours is suppose to be 15 months, but they already hacked off 2 weeks due to schedule changes.:yeah:
