How long do i have after graduation do i have to take my nclex exam and does it have to be in the same state i went to school in? Graduated in california currently residing in colorado?

No it doesn't has to be the same state and also I believe you can take it when ever you want. However, its better to take it 30-45 days ...Good luck !!!

It can be taken in any state, just make sure the school send the paperwork to that states boards. And it can be taken as soon as you get the ATT.. So it depends how long takes them to process your forms and availabaility of the test of the test center

This.

How long it takes your school to get in the documentation (and resultant ATT) and how soon you can get an open appointment at the testing center is what determines how long it might be.

How long after graduation does a graduate have to start initiating the app process thru BON?

Ok I just read the BON website for my state and it says an applicant has to take it within 2 years of the date of graduation.

You can take the NCLEX in any State you want to..however your licensing application and the paperwork the school sends MUST be sent to the State Board of Nursing that you want your license in.

Had a friend who lived on the border between CT/NY. She went to school in CT but tested in NY, she also had her licensing application sent to NY so she was licensed there.

Each State has their own rules on how long after graduation on has to take and pass the NCLEX. Some have no limits, others do and some have limits and also require additional classes/courses if you do not pass in that time frame before they allow you to try again.

ATT time? Well that depends on how long the school takes to get your paperwork to the State BON. I went to LPN and RN school, both schools. My LPN school had the paperwork into the BON 2 weeks after graduation (not our final exam, but after the graduation ceremony). My RN school had the paperwor into the BON 1 week after graduation. Our ATT's were good for 90 days. If you did not test within 90 days, you had to redo your application with the State as well as pay PearsonVue again. Best to do it closer to your graduation date. They have shown those who test closer to graduation have a higher chance of passing than those who test farther and farther from their grad date.
