On a emotionally level: I'm free! I'm independent. My life has changed tremendously! I suffered for sooooo MANY years and since I got my license and moved out of state, I've found hope, friendship, kindness, forgiveness and the greatest of all: love. I've developed my critical thinking skills. Changed many lives. I've been put in charge. I love feeling like a leader. I get challenged everyday and continue to learn new things. I could write a book, but those are some of the ways my life has changed!

Specializes in Med/surg, rural CCU.
Im sorry, did you say you made $700 per month as a Nurse ?

No, she said she made 700 per month MORE than she did as a teacher

I am about to enter my 3rd semester of nursing school, a BSN program. I am about to decide against going back. I have had several health issues start to pop up, I have major sleeping issues, and I am even starting to question my faith. I do not feel that this profession is for me. I get straight A's which does not matter, but I do know how to "think" and I am very caring and empathetic individual. I have the want to do good and improve peoples lives, but this has really had a negative effect on me. I think I maight say "goodbye" to the world of nursing!

There is absolutely nothing wrong with NOT wanting to be a nurse. Good luck in whatever path you choose!

I can put a roof over my head without depending on my folks. Raised a family. Bought a home (back when you didn't end upside down with a mortgage). I'm now able with my scheduling to get a week off at a time. This occurs with careful planning when doing my schedule. I can now go and visit family, take a vacation etc.

Bad: Not being available for holidays etc. Feeling like I let my children down by needing to work during special events. Worked nights a long time, until my personal circadian rhythm said NO MORE!!!!!! My knees are shot, developed an autoimmune dz partially due (I feel) to the stress level of my job and working crazy hours.

I can't stand all the additional paperwork that continues to be piled on us. The healthcare consumer population that expects us to fix everything-that it's their right. These same people sue if we can't fix it. Stupid surveys (like Press Gainey) where families complain because we didn't_________fill in blank with something ignorant. Not being given credit for having a few brain cells, because I don't have a bunch of letters after my name does not mean I'm not qualified for a position outside of direct patient care.

Most days I like my job, but then I have days where I would rather be doing something else!
