How Important Is The Last Question?

Published

Hello Everyone!

I took my NCLEX EXAM today, & the computer Shut Off at 150 Questions. All of the Questions were Very Hard, Intense with Critical Thinking. Nothing was Easy or Straightforward. The "MILLION DOLLAR" Question is: How important is the last Question answered in determining if you Passed or Failed? I have heard from several people that if you got the last question Correct, then you passed. If you got it wrong, then you Failed The NCLEX Exam. I know that I got the Last Question Wrong, because I Looked up the Answer when I returned home, & I chose the Wrong Answer on The Exam. Does this mean that I Failed the Exam? Has this ever Happened to any one else? Has anyone out there ever Passed when they knew for Sure that they got the very last answered Question Wrong? I am Looking Forward To Hearing From You! ALL REPLIES WELCOME!!!

As far as I believe it has nothing to do with the result you still have a chance of passing

Good luck

It's a myth. We know that there have been members here who got the last question wrong but still passed. Hang in there!

no it dosen't matter if you got the last question right or wrong.. i bet you passed .. keep us posted..

Kaplan explains how the testing is done. The way I understood it is that it doesn't matter if you go the last question wrong or right. As long as you are above the passing line. However I got my last question wrong and failed. My friend also go the last question wrong and failed her first time but got the last question right on her second try and passed so.......I'm not too sure. I would kinda like to know myself

first time i took boards,, got 76 q's and 99% sure i got the last question wrong... i failed. yesterday, i took boards for the second time.. got 75 q's and got the last question right... hopefullly i passed.. i'll keep you posted when i get my result.

i really hope that you passed, but in case you didn't,, you gotta keep truckin', persevere, and continue to pursue your purpose. don't be afraid of failures,,, or you'll feel like a failure.

take care.

I heard it matters if you get the last one right or wrong. But, I heard it only matters on the full 265 questions. Yipes..I cannot remember if I got the last one correct or not. I'm still waiting for my results, 11 days later. Good luck to you:)

Not necessarily. The computer will ONLY turn off early if it is 95% certain that you passed or 95% certain that you failed. But after all of the questions have been answered, the computer only needs to think (>50% certainty) that you are above the passing standard -- it doesn't need to be 95% certain.

Let's say you're taking the exam and doing pretty well. As you get into the 260's, the computer has you well above the passing standard, but not above the passing standard with 95% certainty. For the sake of simplicity, we'll say that the computer is 80% sure that you are above the passing standard after Q#264. Even if you miss that last question, you aren't going to fail because the computer will still be well above 50% certain that you passed.

So in that instance (and the corresponding circumstance where you're well below the passing standard but not below it with 95% certainty), getting the last question right/wrong will not be a deciding factor in your pass/fail result.

Well now im nervous because for some reason I cant even remember the last question on my exam. I went to 147 and it shut off. I was confused towards the end and analyzing everything. I started having a few that I know I got right, but also a few that I could only narrow down to two answers and then attempt to guess. I cant believe I cant remember my last question.

I didn't remember my last question, in fact I came out and didn't remember a lot of the questions. Nothing is gained by going over the test, you have done it and all you can do is wait for the results. Try and relax and take some 'me' time. Good luck
