How Helpful was the Anatomy coloring book for you?

Published

I'm debating whether I should get the recommended materials such as the anatomy coloring book, and I was just wondering if it was very helpful or maybe not that helpful? Or maybe there was something else that was an even better studying tool?

I must be the different one here, I used my coloring book once. I took my A&P classes online and I found that the coloring book was not at all helpful because it rarely corresponded with the text or labs. It was required for my class and never used it, maybe I can sell it on e-bay.:lol2:

I didn't find it to be helpful at all either. Time was better spent for me studying out of the book. There was an On-line site through the book publisher and it was quite helpful also.

I love that section of Barnes and Noble! I have a similar question for students already in nursing programs. I've already taken A&P, is it still worth it to get the coloring book to refresh everything before the program?

I've also already taken A & P 1 and 2 but had the coloring books (and had started to work on them) for awhile. I'm now going NUTS waiting for acceptance to my preferred program and just started filling the books in again recently. I've found it incredibly helpful. It's reminding me of things i may have forgotten and refamiliarizing me with language that I'll soon (hopefully!) be using on a regular basis. Of course I also love to color and doodle which makes it both fun and educational. I think if you don't enjoy that kind of activity then it probably won't be helpful to you. I also love puzzles. i've been searching for a periodic table puzzle forever. does anyone know of good anatomy or chemistry puzzles? I may post seperately to ask about that.

have a good day everybody!

It's might be because of the online nature of your labs. A lot of our tests are based off of 3-D models (kind of makes me wish I took A&P at my university, where they use cadavers, instead of the cheap tech school, where the lab is full of plastic!) so studying pictures in the book doesn't help me enough to do well on the tests. I feel like coloring the body parts helps bring them off the page and turn them into real 3-D objects in my brain, which then translates into whatever models are on the test. Does that make sense?

im in A&P rite now...im not using the coloring book but i found a useful website:

www.getbodysmart.com

i purchased one and never even used it, ended up selling it. it just is not realistic enough for me. i used netter's flash cards and powerpoint presentations with classroom models to study and lots of hands on study time.

just my :twocents:.

kc

I used mine in conjunction with flash cards and the text book and came out of I and II with A's. As long as you repeat what the bones are as you color them(or muscles or whatever) and make copies to repeat as needed..I thought it was another part of my orificenal to aceing the AP's.

Good luck!:nuke:
