I need some advice here. I am a new LPN and I am at college where it's pretty hard to get into their school let along the nursing program (BSN). All of my instructors have Doctorates and have been in their field of expertise for at least 10 years or better. It's a challenge for me to hop on their level sometimes. I am 35 years old with a family, working, and go to school full time. How did you guys get study time in to make high grades? I think that I have bitten off more than I can chew here. I am thinking about just scaling back to part time after I finish this semester. Quality over quantity is better don't you think? All suggestions are welcomed here!

I say quality over quantity! While I am not even in nursing school yet, I think If you do not think you can handle it at this load...it would be best for you to scale back and do better with less classes!! Again some people say to do the accelerated so you can be done! If it were me, I would say see how you finish out this semester, and if you still feel you have bitten off more than you can chew, then cut it back some! Best wishes to you!!!!!!!

cut back! some people have eyes that are bigger than their stomach so to speak, definitely cut back b/c it'll help in the long run...yes it may take longer to get where you want to be but believe it def will be worth it. you'll be less stressed/ depressed and much more happy. it's better to take it easy taking less classes at a time and making sure you are getting good grades..A's/B's than doin more classes and just getting by with C's. hoping for the best for you and good luck!

First of all, it's not your responsibility to "hop on to their level" with the PhD instructors.... just the opposite, in fact. They are supposed to do whatever it takes to ensure that you learn the material as set out in the course syllabus. Unless you are enrolled in PhD courses, the expectation is not to make the leap to their knowledge level - LOL.
Only you can decide what is best for you and your family circumstances. It won't take you long to discover your own methods for learning & studying.

No way around it. It's going to take over a lot of your life. You WILL make choices. Remember your teachers are not on a different level, PhD doesn't mean much in reality.
Medicine is medicine.
Never think that the tools your college suggests you use for learning are the tools YOU need to learn with. Run your own show.
Nursing is something that you teach yourself. Own this now, and you will be way ahead of your classmates.
