I just wanted to post a quick unofficial Poll as to who you will be voting for in the US Election.
This thread was only intended to be a poll. Not a political discussion. Feel Free to reply with your choice if you want, but please no political arguments, slams or jabs :) Lets keep this a clean and simple poll
I just thought that it would be interesting to find out where all the AN'ers fall and see if we are consistent with other polls out there?
I've voted my heart and my conscience.
And as for the ANA - NOT all nurses are for Obama.
I deeply resent this organization making a statement on my behalf. The political ad they aired is appalling. I will be withdrawing my membership. I pay my dues to support my profession, not someone else's political agenda.

Actually, the ANA itself has sponsored no political ads.....but, the one from the California Nurses Association is (I agree with you) appalling. It is age-ist, sexist, and stupid (in that it reiterates falsehoods). I'm still trying to pick my jaw up off the floor.
Used to be an ANA member......but, saw the light several years ago.
Just got back from voting. So add one more to the Obama side.
I was surprised, I drove up to my polling place, got a front row parking spot, walked in, no wait to check in, and blamo, 30 seconds later I was feeding my ballot into the scanner.
Connecticut is using a different voting system for the first time. We went from the old fashioned lever type voting booths to the optical scanner one (fill in the bubble, feed into the scanner). I am thrilled. I am not very tall, and always had to stand on my tip toes to reach the levers at the top!
I mentioned the lack of people and the voting volunteers stated that at 6am they were slammed for about 3 hours and then it died down (most people were voting before work) and then around lunch time they got slammed again (I just came as the "lunch wave" left) and they expect a barage of people from 3pm on.
I heard on the news last night that Connecticut signed up 200,000 new voters since January. Now hopefully all those newly registered voters will take a few minutes out of their day to vote!!
Oh boy! My little one is in an uproar!
The hubby took her to go see High School Musical at the theater. She just called and said they were on their way home and that when they get there she and I can go vote. I told her I already voted. She was irate!
"I wanted to be there when you voted. Dontcha know that this is HISTORY?! Now I can't say I was at the voting place with my Mom when she helped vote in the first black president! And I wanted to tell the voting people that I wanted to vote for Mr Barack too! Can we go back and I can tell them to let Mr Barack know that if I was old enough I would vote for him too??!"
Bad Mom (slaps self) Bad, bad, bad MOM!! {hangs head sheepishly} I just ruined my poor 6 year olds day. She has been with me for each and every election I voted in (Local, State, Federal, you name it) and honestly there have been quite a few in her short 6 (going on 7) years.
But hey instead of saying "I was with my Mom at the polling place the day the first Black president (or first woman VP) was elected" She can say "I was watching High School Musical with my Dad when my Mom cast her ballot for the first Black president"
I am not voting for the first time since I turned 18 and I am feel so stupid for it. I moved from Wisconsin (where you can register the day of the election) to Georgia and never realized I couldn't register anymore! That and marriage name changes mucked it all up for me.
Obama for me though.

Obama-Biden. Voted early. I'm so excited.
