How do you get the stripe to stick to your nsg cap?

Last year for my LPN ceremony, I had a seamstress sew on my burgundy stripe. This year, I was hoping to not use a seamstress. I heard people used KY Jelly? Well, I just tried to use what I thought would be a good substitute. "tangy lube for lovers", :clown: but quickly found out it is not like KY (too water based and only made the strip smell like watermelon). What did you use to get the stripe to stick to the cap and not fall off?

That's an easy one. Don't wear it. The cap. That solves the stripe problem.

I've dreamed of wearing that cap since I was a little kid, no way could I go without. If all else fails, I'll go back to the seamstress...

tanzanite. . .as i recall i think i just used elmer's glue to glue my stripes on. this was back in the 70s. you might be able to get double-backed iron on adhesive bonding from a fabric store that will work or a ribbon that already has the iron on bond backing.

another thing that some of the girls did was tack the ends of the ribbons in place with tack pins at each end of the cap, similar to tie tacks. they used to have ones that had the medical caduceus or the letters "rn" or "lpn" on them that you could buy in pairs at the uniform stores for this purpose. some sort of plain ear stud would probably work just as well as long as it is sturdy and you make the hole for the post to go through all thicknesses of the ribbon and the cap material to hold the ribbon in place.. you run the ribbon around the cap with about a 1/2 or one-inch overage folded over the back edges. make sure the ribbon is snug around the cap so it doesn't sag and start to slip down in the middle of the cap. some nurses also used to place their school pins on their caps as well.

I used to use 1/4 " regular white adhesive tape, cut a piece as long as your ribbon/stripe. Make a long tube w/the sticky side out, put your stripe on it, then position it on the cap.

Another way is use a stripe 1" longer than the cap so that 1/2" is leftover on either end. Fold it around the back and staple it from the front side. Works if the ribbon is velvet, not sure about gros-grain or satin.

thank you both. i don't know which suggestion i'm going to try first, but i'm glad for the ideas :) (my stripe is velvet)

We pinned ours, at each end (wrapped the velvet ribbon around the two back "edges" of the cap and secured them with regular straight pins on the inside of the cap, so they didn't show).

How about hot glue with a glue gun?????
