How do you get the stripe to stick to your nsg cap?
That's an easy one. Don't wear it. The cap. That solves the stripe problem.

I am stressed out !! And I know why now !!
Have you considered speaking to your school's or hospital's mental health clinician about this? You could have an easily treatable minor situational depression/ anxiety disorder. I'm the poster child for that. Everything you are feeling is VERY familiar to me.

Took a Peds/Infant assessment class today,.."homework" question,..
Generally, you will here wheezes/ rhonchi when a patient has an obstructive condition like COPD, asthma, etc. And rales with fliud in the lungs at the alveolar level, like CHF. You will hear both at the same time, on occasion. Now that you can identify them........Next question......Quiz time..........what do you do to tx the underlying condition?

I am stressed out !! And I know why now !!
OH, honey! Try to focus on you and your patients. Feedback from others is important, but try to use only the constructive, useful criticism. There are some out there who will try to beat you down, for some reason it makes them feel more secure in their twisted little way. Where were you when you had the best times in nursing so far? That's where you should try first.

Is there REALLY a nursing shortage?
The Commuter and PM Cowboy (see above posts) are straight up correct. I'm one of those not working nurses, (out for 7 years to raise the kids). I'm about to go back into the trenches. I hear about the so called "nursing shortage" and figure no problem I should be able to work where I want. The job market is telling a very different story. Not as many jobs out there as a market in shortage should bear. 2-3 years ago there may have been a shortage, don't see a sign of it now.

Returning to Nursing after 6 years
tjb, Our bios read almost the same! I graduatedw/ BSN 1986 worked med/surg, ICU then 7 years ED for a total of 13 years in nursing beofre quitting ALL work in 2000 to raise up the kids, ages 13, 6, and 4. I have recently completed @200 contact hours of continuing education to re-claim my lapsed license. (only took @ 2 weeks) I am also considering hospice. A lot of the CE dealt w/ hospice & end of life issues. I have not yet started to actively search for a position. An RN friend who works Oncology thinks that I should do some in hospital work for a while to brush up on skills. I think this is a good idea. Then I go to the local hospital's career opportunities listings and just about all the jobs in the areas that I think would be best for me are night shift. I can't do night shift. I'm excited about getting back to work, but I'm getting discouraged and I have'nt even submitted applications! Every time I start to write a resume I start to hyperventilate!!!!!!!!! Encouragement please, from anyone out there!!!! I'm stuck in the house with a bunch of kids! I need professional help!! Adult contact.............anything............
