How to get a job?

I am graduating in December and someone told me that I should have already applied for a job by now! Is this true? Do I still have a chance?!

Thanks!

Most the places I have applied to said they wont even look at them til November so I wouldnt worry

It really depends on the area you're in. In some places, they won't really look at you until you pass the NCLEX and have a license. In other places, they put up job openings now for jobs that start in February (with the understanding they're going to be looking at candidates that are still in school). Those are just examples, but you need to know and understand the job market where you live/ where you intend to work. Make a list of the hospitals in your area (and possibly some outside of your area) and find out when they hire during the year. HR will tell you when they post jobs related to certain start dates. Due to the volume of applications some hospitals get for limited openings, the listings will only be up for a short period of time, and they work on a first come, first serve basis when looking at resumes, so after X number of resumes, they stop. The best thing to do now is get familiar with the market in your area and start applying, if that is what is needed where you are.

In this area the new grad internships are posted in September for February start dates. Highly competitive too.
