How far did you travel to take the NCLEX?

Published

I'm in the middle of scheduling my NCLEX and will most likely travel to get an earlier test date (like two weeks earlier!) It's looking like I'll end up driving 2-4 hours depending on the site I end up scheduling at.

This made me wonder, how far have others traveled to take their NCLEX earlier?

I drove 3 hours to get a test date that was 2 days earlier AND TO ENJOY THE BEACH!

I drove 2 hours each way to get the soonest testing date. :)

All 3 times I took the exam I had to travel to the US, now it can be done abroad but even then some people still have to travel to another country to sit the exam and get a tourist visa to do it in a lot of cases

Wow, I guess I hadn't even thought of that! Fortunately I found a site 4 hours away that I'll be able to test at in two weeks. I was looking at sites as far as 8 hours away. But, having to travel out of country....that's gotta put a bit more stress, both mentally and financially, on a person!

I can relate- the closest testing center to where I live in nor cal in 3 hours but I couldn't get a test date there for 1.5 months so I am driving to Oregon (4 hours and 200 miles) so I can take the test this Friday (which is still almost a month after i got my ATT).

Guess I can be thankful that I don't have to go to another country ! Just hope I get my (passing) results before July 2 (my first day of work)!

Just a bit lol, The last time was actually a trip with my DH and got married at some very close friends house.

I traveled an hour to take the test, it was about 60 miles to the test center. I only got my ATT last night, and the only available test date within the next month at that center was this afternoon! Otherwise I would have driven 1 1/2 hours to the state capital.

Wow!! I'm impressed that you tested so soon after receiving you ATT. That's awesome! How do you feel about it?

I feel decent enough about it. Still nervous, as is expected. I wanted to get the test in before my start date at work (July 7th) because I didn't want the "real world way" to interfere with my "book way" knowledge. The only available test date before then was this afternoon. The test stopped after 75 questions, so I'm hoping that's a good thing!

Wow! That was an extremely fast test date. I wonder if not having to worry about the exam for weeks would help? It took me a month after I got my ATT to get a date. Those that just got their numbers in Colorado are into the end of July and the beginning of August. I am sure you will get very good news in a few days! I also, am already working and test on July 10th. The pressure is on!
