How did you decide where you wanted to go to nursing school?

Published

I guess this is aimed more at 2nd degree BSN students, but what made you decide where you went? Did you just apply to places nearby home? Or did you apply all over the country?

Being I'm in NY and HATE winter driving I only applied at the nearest school. If I didn't get in I'm honestly not sure what I would have done. As any other BSN program is a good 45+ minutes away.

I hate it too!!! I'm already dreading the thought of driving to clinicals during the winter! LOL

I chose my school b/c it was the best school in my area for the money. I'm married w/ two kids. I don't qualify aide, so this comes out of my pocket. Loans would be fine, but honestly, I want to shrink my monthly payments, not add to them, lol! I'll save those for when my children need to go to college. It's a great school w/ 100% NCLEX passing rate, it's just small, making it harder to get accepted, a problem I no longer need to worry about.

I researched online until I found one that fit me and it happened to be LIU.

Which program?

Sorry I just now saw your question. Texas A&M Corpus Christi..14 months

I am applying to two ABSN programs, West Chester and DeSales University, both in PA. One of the reasons I chose them was because of location, even though I still would not be able to commute. They're both almost 2 hours from my home town, but my undergrad was 4 hours away so 2 doesnt seem so bad. Another reason was because of the pre-reqs they required. These two schools required the least amount of pre-reqs out of all the schools in PA. I still had to take a couple of extra classes outside of my previous degree, but some of the programs would have required a years worth of extra classes and that seemed like too much time and money for me. Also, I heard West Chester's program is one of the cheapest in the state, making it more appealing and definitely my first choice.
