  1. Congrats to the new cohort! Get ready, its going to be a bumpy ride, haha.
  2. Look into West Chester University in Pennsylvania. The list of pre-reqs is the smallest of any school in PA and they only require a 2.75 in the pre-reqs. Also, it says they want a 3.5 in your undergrad degree, but ive talked to several people who were accepted to the program this year and they did not have that GPA. The school is also one of the cheapest around by far! Good luck!
  3. That is helpful, I think I am going to call also because I saved the emails and each one says we must take 12 credits to be considered full time, and you must be full time to receive any kind of financial aid. I just really want to know because I was going to call my bank and see about getting a private loan. Also, we dont know how much were receiving from the school and it worries me. I would hate to start the program and have them say oh you're only getting this much aid and it doesnt even cover what I need.
  4. Im going to try and talk to financial aid as well but they still have not emailed me back since last week. I really do not like how disorganized and last minute everything is so far. We can be full time in the summer but like I said there are only limited classes and the ones that would work with our schedule would be for 4 hours twice a week at night. Or they also have some classes that are 8-5 for one week before or after our classes start. If you find anything out, let me know. Thanks!
  5. I never heard that either, because I KNOW people who got loans and werent full time. I heard the same thing during my interview and I thought good because I know there were loans I didnt use in undergrad. Did you get the email she sent? It says you need to be full time to receve aid, and I emailed back and shared several emails back and forth and each time she clearly stated that we need to be registered full time to receive aid from them. I asked her how much do I know Im getting and she said we need to talk to financial aid office about that but they cant tell us until we register. I think they do have online classes, there is an option to search for that under the course schedule but I dont know what they offer. Im going to be calling the financial aid office soon because I emailed them and they never responded to me. I suggest you email her back and ask directly because that is what she told me.
  6. I thought part time students could get aid as well because I know people who have it, it just might not be through the school. I emailed her numerous times and she specifically said you need to be full time to receive any aid from them, and that we wont find out our aid until we are registered. Its kind of like the chicken and the egg question. There were other classes that we could take during the first or last 5 weeks of summer but like I siad they were 4 hours twice a week which is a lot on top of an already hectic schedule. Not to mention I live at least an hour and a half away so im not trying to drive there 5 days a week. Im currently looking into private loans for myself this way Ill KNOW that I am covered before I start and I wont have to take extra classes that I dont need. Did you reply to the email? It did say we needed to be full time to receive aid.
  7. Did everyone get the email about being a full time or part time student? I had NO idea that we had to be full time to receive any type of aid from the school. This is an issue since the first summer session we only have 9 credits. I looked up other courses that we can take during the first or last 5 weeks and basically the only thing that fits in our schedules is classes from 4-8 or 6-10 twice a week, and all but one are NOT nursing courses. I would be willing to take an additional class to get myself to full time but how do we know that we will actually get the aid. I hate to spend more money on classes that I dont need, especially when Im not sure if the school is giving me aid or not. Any info or advice please let me know!
  8. I just got more information about the orientation, and that they register us for our classes. The letter also stated that there is some kind of packet they want us to bring to the orientation and that tells us what books we need. Its just sorta inconvenient for me because I was gonna try to get all my stuff while i was at orientation since i dont live close to there at all..but oh well guess i better get used to it. Has anyone started to get all of the medical/precert stuff done like the TB testing, physical, eye exam, CPR cert?
  9. I received a letter in the mail yesterday. It said about paying the deposit, meeting with an advisor, and registering for classes. Im wondering if we really have to meet with an advisor since our classes are predetermined? I think Ill be making a phone call shortly because I really dont know whats going on haha.
  10. Do we have to register for classes ourselves? Were all in the same class and its a predetermined thing I thought since they have the days and times already set up for us. I didnt even talk to WCU about financial aid, I just filled out the FAFSA and hope that will be enough. I really hope they send us more information on what is going on because right now I feel clueless.
  11. It said the deposit is due by March 22nd, so Im sure you'll get the packet before then.
  12. I received my official letter as well, but that packet they sent us isnt really useful. The only thing I got from it was that I need to pay a 200 deposit fee other then that it was basically useless.
  13. Has anyone received their official letter or packet of information from WCU yet? I got the email on the 8th or 9th and still havent gotten anything else. I really want to get all the information so I can start figuring out loans, uniforms, books, vaccinations, etc. Thanks!
  14. Its almost impossible to work during the summer session unless you do weekends. The schedule is class two times 9-3, then lab 9-2, then wed 8-11. So theres only one week day when yours completely free and three of the days are almost full time days. The fall/spring sessions are easier bc the class is once a week 4-9 then clincals are on weekends. hope this helps
  15. Djames, she didnts really ask to many questions honestly... the basic, why nursing, then went over the curriculum and asked if you had questions.. at least thats how my interciew went. Go Zags, most semesters wont even be full time, the first is only 9 credits, the rest are 10 or 11 but you need two electives before you graduate so that max would be like 14 a semester. The semesters at WCU dont have as many credits because were doing 5 when most other programs are doing 4. Also, the price is not bad at all, you pay per credit the undergrad rate that all other WCU students pay. I didnt think they were very competitve, they might say the want a 3.5 undergrad but I definitely did not have that and I know other ppl on this forum didnt have it either and we were the first ppl accepted. They told me they accept a good percentage who apply and the reason ppl get rejected is becasue they did not have the pre reqs complete or bc they did not send the application with transcripts in one envelope. Id be happy to answer any other questions!
