Could someone please explain to me why the nurses are complaining that they're not being pad well. In case my math is wrong this is the figure that I come up with.
3 day/12 hour shift at average $28/hr in New York
12 hours *$28=$336 per day*3 days $1008 per week* 52 Weeks that's $52,416 per year......that's just the average in New York. If you do 4 days you pull in almost $70,000.
So, what the all the complaining about not getting paid? I just don't understand.
Am I missing something?
Aaron
PS: I didn't even include any sign on bonus or night differential pay.
Tridil 2000, I don't think it could be put any better than that! :yelclap: EXCELLENT way putting it into words. Hopefully, the original person who posted will get the point? Is he a nurse by the way???
actually, i should tell them they get half price special bc i do 2 pts at a time... you pay $37/h and they'll pay $37/h!!!!!
LOL!!!:rotfl: ...
.....thinking of how cheap the med surg nurses charge would be when you divide $75 up by 10 pts!!!! you guys are basement bargain at $$7.50 an hour!!
Oh heck, I just compare what salary comes in to what expenses go out, and then it's easy. Nowadays, it's just harder to make a living than ever before, but it's nearly impossible to imagine that back in the '50s, one person could work and another could actually afford to stay home, and the kids still got to live in a real house. What happened to that anyhow?
Continuous inflation, progression of technology to the point that humans are not needed for production of products, EXTREME increase in population, maybe?
:icon_roll OP: First of all, are you a nurse? and if you are shame on you, and if you aren't same on you x2. Why are you posting on this website? :flamesonb
You really could use some manners, in my opinion. Ever consider that maybe some posters here aren't nurses, but want to become nurses? I'm sure you didn't do any kind of research into the field of nursing before you became a nurse. No, you wouldn't do that. It would be wrong.
I am a med tech in the Blood Bank. When I worked on Thanksgiving, an OR nurse came to pick up blood and told me I could take my time getting it ready because she was on double-triple overtime.....isnt that wonderful? (I sure as heck was NOT getting any of that kind of pay) I told her we only have ONE speed in the Blood Bank and that is STAT
Even if I did get that kind of money , I definitely would not go around bragging to other departments about it. No wonder the animosity continues.....
Certainly depends on what area of the country one lives in.
LPNs make far more than I do here as an RN in some parts of the country.
But considering the work I do, the responsibilities I have, and the physical toll it takes on my body, I feel I am well underpaid. I've been an RN over two years now and am still a few cents short of $17.00/hr.
Hmmm... a phlebotomist turned into a nurse? just kidding... =P~Although... on a side note... you'd probably be the first nurse I would turn to if someone wanted to put an IV in my poor arm... =)
Starting an IV takes more skill than collecting a blood specimen, beleive me, I do both as an RN.

What part of the country do you practice?
