How is the BSN entry level program at Nova Southeastern University?

Published

Hey I'm new to this site, and was just curious how Nova's nursing program is. I just got accepted into the Fall 2010 nursing program at the main campus in Davie. Any advice on how it is? Did you feel prepared when you took your NCLEX after completing the 27 month program? Would love to hear from anybody. I'm so excited and cant wait to start in august! :)

Marcy, i have not received a phone call?? Maybe i should call? I have 2 other friends that are in the kendall campus as well and they have not received a phone call either..... hmmm weird. I guess we will find out soon.. we only have 3 weeks left until we start aaaaaaahhhhhhhh

Ashley, the dress code is on the site when you go into the orientation page its on the left hand side.. its business casual most of the time if you are not wearing your scrubs but i am pretty sure that once we have them thats all we will be wearing.... you could wear your scrubs for everything clinicals/lectures, etc. I am still debating what to wear for orientation... its going to be hot so something light should be a good fit and wear comfortable shoes... ugh i bet we are going to be walking all over the place... Hope this info helped..

Yes it helped..Thanks soo much! I hate wearing business clothing ugh lol...I so can't wait for the scrubs...I'll prob have to mix and match though...Business one day, scrubs the next day....

I have been accepted into the program as well and I cant wait to begin!!! I did the LPN program in high school so Im ready to get back to it. I have a couple of friends that are at Nova now and say the exact same thing as you all above. I can't wait to meet you all in a couple of weeks and if possible we should definitely keep in touch! See ya soon!

@FutureNurse0719...That's great!! Good that you're ready to get back to it...I also can't wait to start!

congrats jhansi and futurenurse cant wait to start the program already! so i was thinking since its already august 1st and we will be starting this month if we should pick a date to all meet up before!??

Yea we should def meet somewhere...Where do u live? I live in Coral Springs...I got Sketchers, it's all white except for the small S logo that's gray...Would that still be acceptable? I took intro to nursing already this spring at FAU and passed, so would I have to retake that class again in the fall?? I hope not lol..bcuz atleast I'll have one less class to worry about. Another thing, I know alot of ppl said not to work during 1st few semesters but I have no other choice..I have FWS and just some loans and scholarships but I don't see my Bright Futures on webstar under Financial Aid? Does any of u see it under webstar? Hope to see you all soon!! Best of luck to everyone!!! :) :nurse:

Jhansi,

I have Bright Futures and it does appear under my Webstar package along with my other aids. You might want to contact Bright futures and make sure they have Nova listed as your school.

Hey, since I begin in winter and some of you already see all of your fees can someone post the real breakdown cost/ fees of the 1st semester as a florida resident? before any aid of course. thanks a million = )

@ZDream624: I called but couldn't get thru. So I called Nova and they said that they haven't yet finished putting up the Bright Futures on webstar for the ppl who have them. She said just to wait and that they would finish putting them up before semester begins..

@Karina331: Go on the nova website and go to the nursing page and it tells you what the fees are and when to pay them for the year..If it's $19,335 a year then for the semester it would be $6,445 plus the fees...I was told that they charge on your account the tution which is the $6,445 and the fees which is $352...The other fees to keep your seat you pay beforehand...Also you got estimates for books, personal expenses, housing, transportation, etc.. But again I was told that you are only charged the tution for the sememster and the $352 in fees, but if you're living on campus well then it will be on ur account..But that's all I know and I think im right lol..But to be on the safe side call up Nova to make sure lol...It should be on webstar the cost of attendance for the year.

My Bright Futures isnt showing as well and I also have to work and I was awarded work study as well. I just printed out the application and hopefully I get the job because I definitely need it. I also think we should meet up some place as well that would give us a good start to actually meet everyone before classes actually begin. I live in Dania Beach off of Stirling Road and there is a plaza with many restaurants and even a Barnes and Nobles where we can meet up. If you all have any ideas dont hesitate to bring them up and let me know when would be a good time for everyone to meet. Hope to see you all soon!

Hey I see that you went to FAU and I did too lol. How long were you there because I took intro to nursing too but online and I passed.

Dania Beach is far from me lol...I don't drive yet lol...I live in Coral Springs...Yea I went to FAU for 2 yrs...I was hoping to get into FAU's nursing program but it's soo hard to get in since they only take 30 ppl...Yea I took the class but not online, so I'm hoping I don't have to do that again..I hope I see my bright futures soon...I didn't know the application was up already...Gonna work on that...U got a facebook cuz it might be easier thru there...I mean if anyone has facebook that's means of getting in touch with all who are starting the nursing program and anyone who wants to meet up before school starts..
