Hi guys i need your suggestions on this, my wife recently passed the recent board exam given by PRC last June2008, in this regard shes asking the step to take in going for an RN in British Columbia, Vancouver. What are the requirements so she can have her papers assessed.
hi everyone! it's so nice to come across this thread since i don't know anyone yet that's applying in canada. now at least i can like share infos and compare notes with you guys coz we're all in the same boat :yelclap:i recently applied with bc about a month ago. they said they got my application dec 12. they sent me an e-mail with my file number just last jan 14 (i guess it took quite a while coz of the holidays). anyway, my file info still says that my file hasn't been reviewed yet. i'm just wondering when that's gonna be? what's the pre-assessment stage anyway? i just really, really hope i don't have to go thru the sec assessment. what's their criteria for requiring you the sec?
i'm also part of the june 2006 but i retook the entire exam on june 07. i didn't declare my 06 license though since i had it revoked anyway. you think that's okay that i didn't declare it?
by the way, i also applied with an agency based in canada. it's kinda expensive but since i don't know how things work around there, and since i'm also in a hurry, i thought that it would be worth it. i don't have regrets though. :wink2: (too bad i didn't see this thread a few months back when i was still considering applying in canada)
i'm currently in the us right now, working as an rn in a skilled nursing facility for about a year already.
btw, for anyone who's applied, is everyone gonna go thru the pnp or is there someone who'll be taking the federal skilled worker program path instead?
thanks! and good luck to all of us!
p.s. anyone here in the us and also applying in bc?
you don't need to declare that you are a june 2006 passer since you retook the wole tests.
but if you're good with everything, you're eligible already? how long does it take again? is pre-assessment stage same as the review stage?
you will not be fully reviewed until all the necessary documents are in in their office. that's why there's this pre-assessment review to check your deficiencies before a decision will be made whether you are eligible to take crne or not. an average of 3-4 months to complete the process but it still depends how these documents are submitted prompty.
i see.. i think they have all my requirements already. the one i'm not sure of is the one coming from prc.. i asked them to send it like before christmas break. dunno what happened with that..
that right there is one of the biggest roadblocks facing iens when they apply to canada. they have no control over the actions of the various sources of information such as the prc, their nursing schools, former employers and so on. so they're at the mercy of whomever opens the envelope containing the request for documentation. and until all the papers are forwarded and received, they can't make any forward progress. there really is no way to streamline to process without compromising standards and principles, so the ien will have to take things as they come and wait it out.
