I have only been here 5 months. If I call in tom, it will make the 2nd time.
I am getting burned out and I want to start applying for a transfer. Will 2 times in 5 months look bad?
The reaons I am getting burned out:
We rarely hear any praise from out manager, only what we did wrong.
If I want a PTO day, it has to be put in at least 6 weeks in advance.
I just need a ME day. But I feel guilty b/c 2 times in 5 months, that sounds like a lot?
I believe the OP was abbreviating tomorrow by using tom. My advice would be to take the day off if you truly need it. But you need to take some time and reevaluate your work habits, thought habits, time off habits, to see if you are doing something that is contributing to your fatigue. Your off time should be just that. Do things to rest and rejuvenate yourself. Don't waste time and mental energy ruminating about the job. Let the job take care of itself while you are off. Take care of yourself and you will be able to do your job.
I realize this will be too late for the poster to make any different changes to what she does, but this is my two cents.
You have been at your job for 5 months total as I read the post. Most jobs for the first 90 days do not allow any sick days to be taken. This means this will be your second call off in two months if I figured it correctly.
Ask yourself how this look.

I think it looks worse if it's a Friday or the weekend- especially if you have the weekend off.
