Everything they require will be on the board of nursing website just check it out. You can find link under the resources tab above. Be aware with retrogression you will not be able to adjust your visa and stay to work. Currently looking at several years for China

You must apply for licensure to the state board and be granted permission to sit for the NCLEX exam. There is no way to apply for it directly.

Be aware that NJ will not issue a license without a SSN#. And as Anna mentioned above, the wait for getting a green card is going to be years. Even if you are here going for the MSN, the wait is still going to be long as there are many from your country that have the Master's degree from the US and qualify for the EB-2 status. For most other countries that is current, but from China and India, it is back to about 2001/2002.

hi...i'm from NJ too, but i applied for NCLEX @ the California BON cuz the process in NJ is quite difficult...i was thinking of applying for a license transfer afterwards. i'm also on a dependent visa...would it really take years before i get a GC? thanks...

Not sure why you are applying in California instead???? They won't license you without SSN, same as NJ.

I don't see the point at all.

And anyway when you endorse, what you cannot from California without a SSN, you still have to meet State Board requirements. Not sure about your country of birth, but waiting times for a greencard is several years.

Sorry, but what you did will not help you in any way nor make things faster. Actually you will be slowed down considerably.

You still need to meet the requirements for NJ if you are endorsing. You have to have the CES completed by CGFNS before they will look at your application.

And the most important thing that you did not pay attention to is the fact that CA will not issue a license to you without a SSN#, so there is no way to endorse from there. You will have to complete the License by Examination application and then have CA forward your results to them.

We do not transfer licenses, you can only endorse them. But since CA will not issue you one, there is no license to do anything with.

And yes, if you take the time to do some reading on this forum; you are going to see that you are looking at more than five years in most cases before you have a chance at a green card. And depending on country of birth, it could be even longer.

Unfortunately, if you are on the H-4 visa, chances are that your spouse wil have used up all of their time on the H1-B visa, even with a renewal before you will be able to have a chance at a green card.

You also did not apply for the NCLEX exam, there actually is no application for it. What you did was apply for licensure to a state that will not issue a license to you without a SSN#.

But the point is you applied for licensure and nothing more than that. The exam requires permission to sit for it and is part of the licensing process.
