Something I was thinking about while having a conversation with my husband, and studying for a chemistry exam. How do you prepare for the fact that you might do all of this hard work and possibly not get in your program?
I'm not trying to be a negative nancy, I'm just wondering if anyone else has thought about it? I wouldn't really know what to do if I didn't get in.
We do have an ASN and BSN programs - I suppose if I didn't get into the ASN I would continue pre requisites to do the BSN. But even then, what do you do?
Do you, if it came to it, have a plan B?
Other than going for BSN pre requisites I don't.
I'm doing prereqs for the university in the town I want and will be applying there. I'll also apply for the community college's program, an Accelerated BSN program, and maybe another program in another city. Any city other than where I'm at would be very far away though, and since most programs start in spring and my fiance is a teacher, that would mean time apart from my husband if I did the last option since he can't just pick up and move without breaking contract.
Hopefully it won't come to that! I am doing my best to get straight As, currently volunteering and will soon be working as a CNA so that I don't even have to worry!
I honestly think about it every single day. I busted my ass to bring my GPA up from a 1.93 to a 3.47 within 3 semesters. I had to get all As last semester so that my GPA would be good enough to apply for spring semester. I find out in 2 weeks & I'm really nervous. It's the only program I applied to...a BSN program. So if I don't get in, I have to sit on my butt for spring because I have nothing left to take. This is my last semester of pre-reqs. Good luck to you!!

That is very similar to what I'm going through. I had a 2.67 prior to doing my major pre reqs(sciences and whatnot - retaking poor grades). I feel like I'm busting my butt, but my English teacher is making me lose confidence.

Don't let your professors make you lose confidence. I've had a regular advisor here tell me that there's no way I'll get into the nursing program here & never suggested I retake any classes. Once I spoke to An actual nursing advisor, she told me to retake everything under a B, which I did. Clearly it helped, and if I get in, I seriously want to pay they mean advisor a visit! Lol don't lose your confidence. You're always going to have obstacles & you just have to fight your way through them if you want to be a nurse!! :)
can grades from almost 20 years really affect your grades? ive heard that private schools are more likely to accept you because they are more lenient because of the cost
It's not really that they're more lenient because of cost; it's all about the applicant pool. Some private schools have fewer applicants than public schools because of cost. Fewer applicants increases your chances. But there are some wildly competitive, popular private schools out there as well.

That is how I am right now, I am pretty bummed. I am on my last prerequisite and am stressed about not getting accepted. I don't have a plan B either.
